Does anyone have info on this one ? It must be new . I don't see any reviews up yet. Brewed with maple is all that I have heard. Love the name & Smutty rarely disappoints.

it's a beer for Flatbread Company. So I don't think it's in bottles, though it is a Maple Saison.

Yup. We have it at Flatbread. It's pretty decent, but I'm not blown away. Basically an amber, and I couldn't taste the maple. Although it's not surprising that it's in there, considering we use maple as sweetener in pretty much everything.

    Now, trivia point...

Art look at all familiar? What beer did the artist (a good buddy of mine) also do?

Howdy. Peter from Smuttynose/Portsmouth Brewery here. The artwork for Flatbread's Emotional Rescue was done by Dan Blakeslee, who is probably best known in the beer world as the creator of the Alchemist's Heady Topper label. Interestingly, this is Dan's fourth round of beer packaging design. In 1997, we commissioned him to create a handful of labels for the Portsmouth Brewery when we first started putting our beers into bombers. In 1999, he designed the six-pack and labels for Northampton Pale Ale, which Smuttynose was producing on behalf of our sister company, the Northampton Brewery. After that, he created his now-famous Heady Topper label, and now, most recently, he was engaged by Flatbread to design a graphic identity for their new house beer, another Smuttynose project. Dan's talent, his unique style and his off-kilter sense of humor make him uniquely suited for the task, in my opinion. Not to mention that he's a fine musician and a really good guy.

    Do I win a prize?

    Cheers,

    P-

I’ve been a fan of Dan Blakeslee’s music since I first heard one of his tracks on a Wire sampler CD in Portsmouth maybe 10 years ago now. Not long after that, I first became acquainted with his artwork when I noticed at bars around Portsmouth. When I first visited the Alchemist in Waterbury several years later, I was sure that I was looking at more of Dan’s handiwork. I had no idea, though, about his past work for Northampton and Portsmouth Brewery. What ever happened to these labels? Any chance Portsmouth would run them again? I don’t know him well at all, but I run into him from time-to-time on the street or at his shows around Cambridge/Somerville now, and Dan is always a very pleasant, funny and talented guy. I was excited to see his label for the Flatbread beer, and as far as an amber goes, I found Emotional Rescue to be fittingly pleasant.
