SN Audition Smoked Porter

    My brother in-law got a bottle of this recently. I've never heard of this beer before, and its only got two reviews. What's the story behind this beer? Is this a rarity? Here's a picture for reference.

    Yeah, test bottles they brew and only sell at the brewery. I picked up one of the Double IPAs they had there this summer. Plan on going up there to get one of these as I'm big on Smoked Porters.

    I'm one of the two reviews up on it. I ended up getting it in a trade, didn't realize how small a batch it was!

    Answering a few questions...
    • You will not find this beer any longer (at the brewery), it was released Fall of 2011. Although, it was the base beer for the Super Rocket V8 (bourbon barrel-aged), which was released for the Toronado 25th Anniversary Party. So it sometime make an appearance here and there at tap takeover and rare beer events.
    • The Audition Series is sold at the brewery only, with about 100-150 cases maximum produced.

    "Audition is the name we give to brewery-only bottle releases only available in our pub and giftshop. They're one-off brews that we do for fun and as a thank you to our local Chico consumers.

    We're actually going to change the name very soon to "Test Pilot Series" (the beers come out of our pilot brewery..get it) but the beers will remain the same. Typically they are in 750mL release and only available for about a 6-week window. If people love the beer, and we get lots of feedback, those beers might one-day find themselves in a larger slot.

    This is a project I personally oversee and I'm super proud of the beers that we're putting out. The smoked porter was one of my favorites of last year, and I squirreled a case of it away for myself that I still have aging in the cellar!
