    Hey guys,

I know many people age this beer. I have never had one, but picked up 2 yesterday at my local bottle shop. Was curious as to how this beer goes with aging and how the profile of the beer evolves with age. I am giving one bottle to my buddy, so just curious if you guys prefer this beer fresh or with age on it and how long would you guys suggest aging it.

    Cheers!

Its great fresh or great with age. It can certainly hold up for years in the cellar. I'm shooting to have a 20 year vertical of it.

It ultimately comes down to what you prefer. Open it nowish, and establish a reference. Do *you* like it fresh?

I'll take mine with 4 years on it please! It's pretty amazing how long the hops hang around. After 3 years the malt is a lot more forward, but I like 4.

Both. Good at 10 years, and beyond, if stored properly.

I'm doing the same with Black Tuesday! Only 16 more years to go!

I prefer BF with some age on it so that the licorice and hops fade just a touch. It's like eating a "Raw" Fennel/Basil/Grapefruit/Pine Sap salad fresh, but it really comes together and blends much better when properly aged for a few years.

As stated above fresh or aged doesn't matter its still awesome. Had a 2002 a few months back and it tasted incredible.

great fresh, great aged 3 years, great aged 10 years. 2011 was even great in that awkward 6 month "hops have faded quite a bit but malt hasn't got much more prominent," period.

I'm just bummed they raised the price last year from $9.99 a six to $12.99. It used to be one of the best deals going. Still a great beer and decent value, but instead of grabbing a case each year I just grab one or two sixers.

That's a beer that does well either way. It's very good fresh, though I personally am partial to English style barleywines, so I enjoy it even more with a bit of age on it. Some of the highlights of recent EBFs was Sierra Nevada bringing kegs of '94 and '96 Bigfoot.

I've had a 5-year vertical of Bigfoot and each year was enjoyable. But recently I had a 2012 that's been in the fridge all year (not a super cold fridge, mind you) and really, really enjoyed it. Tons of hops, but not super biting/astringent like it can be upon release.

Also bummed that last year's price went up and this year's moving to 4-packs. Going to make it harder to keep my cellar full.

It's great both ways but I prefer it aged. The best I ever had was 2? yrs ago at the EBF.If memory serves me right the keg was 17 yrs old and fantastic.

Enjoyed one recently from 1999. I currently have three bottles of 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 aging.

I prefer it somewhere between fresh and "aged" so that the hops fade out a bit but are still part of the overall aroma and flavor profile.

There is literally no bad age at which to drink Bigfoot.*

*I can't vouch for anything older than 1998 though
