Wow... that is expensive! Given the $30-$50 to get in the front door, you guys spent roughly $120 per person? Looks like this will officially become my most expensive beer festival ever! How did you buy additional beer tix in advance. I just see the Hydra tix which have the $10 entry fee built in. Am I missing another link for individual drink tickets?

I'm pretty sure he meant they purchased additional drink tickets as soon as they entered the festival rather than purchasing when their initial allotment ran out

Got a ticket for me and the wife, we went the first year and had a great time. The beer list this year is 100x better than the first year, hope I can get some of that BA Abraxas and that Sump variant. Also the official Snallygaster beer is a Saison, anyone got any info on that?

As jayluf pointed out, we bought the extra drink tickets as soon as we arrived there (there were booths outside of the main gate). My entire Snallycost was about $200 for myself and the wife (entry + drink tix).

The unfortunate thing about it being back at Yards is that I can't go back to that place that sold sushi and tater tots after the fest. I don't remember the name but it was awesome.

Appreciate the clarification! Makes sense, grab tickets when the lines aren't bad. A $100 per person is a bit stiff... but an amazing line-up of beers!

If you weren't able to get a Goliath ticket, I'm guessing the BA Abraxas and Sump will be gone by the time you get in. Last year, a lot of the most in-demand stuff was already kicked when they opened the gates for the GA tickets.

So sad, wish they saved some stuff for the GA. But you know most of the beers on the list look pretty good honestly, so there should be no shortage of great beer. Hope the weather is nice!

Also having a Melange No.3 before the event with friends, so that is rare enough for me for the day!

So I'll be working the event and I'm not sure if I'll get the chance to try BA Abraxas and BA Sump so I'm hoping that somebody can just bring me a glass of each to where I'm pouring. I'd happily throw a DL13 and a BASC somebodys way for both if they can manage to get a second pour of each.

PM me and let me know where you're pouring and I'll bring you a glass

Whew! Scored a Goliath for my wife. Didn't trust myself to make the right decision to forgo VIP if we couldn't get her one. While Steve may not know it... he may have saved my marriage! :grinning:

@CoastieSimon mentioned Melange 3 pre-event. Don't worry, not inviting myself. :-) But... to anyone who's attended in the past, is there an option to take a bottle for pre-event kick-off festivities? I don't know this facility and whether it's okay or not.

the facility is outdoors in a parking lot... so not really a place for pre-party. bluejacket opens at 930am saturday - that would be my recommendation.

also; forecast calling for rain saturday.

To anyone that went last year, did VIPs line up early to get in?? I know it opens at 1130 for VIP but do people line up an hour early?? Just trying to ensure I get BA Abraxas & Sump

Dear god I love BA Abraxas, can't wait.

Somehow I don't believe you. I'll be there, make sure to swing by!

The VIP session was not very crowded at all, no line that I saw. It was pretty easy to get anything on the list. However, some beers may not make it to the general session (or for about 10 minutes of it) so fill up while you can.

Looks like we aren't going to volunteer... 8+ hours of work for a $50 GC and not being able to try many of the beers we're all pouring doesn't sound fun as much as I always enjoy pouring beer at fests. They seem to be even stricter than last year on the volunteers trying out the beers.

Yeah the email they sent out made it sound like sampling while volunteering is going to be policed this year.

The chick at our tent last year was pretty awful. If I had anything in my smaller sample cup while I was constantly pouring samples she would spill it out. No joke. All that parabajava she spilled out...

~4 hours of pouring as volunteers is good... long enough to get to talk to a bunch of attendees, short enough to not be exhausted and then have a few hours to try other beers at a fest, but 8+? Yikes.

Yeah all this is regrettable. I had a lot of fun last year but this year sounds pretty awful. Wish I would have just paid and got VIP. I plan on discretely drinking until people yell at me.
