Agreed. I got a nice little sprint in for the ol' heart, but I could have abstained and still snagged a pour of BA Abraxsas. Great success!

Isn't this festival case of NRG procuring the kegs rather than a case of the brewery "bringing" the beer?

Shout out to the festival organizers for putting together a well run event this afternoon. Got in line at 11:00am for a noon VIP entrance and had maybe 75 people in front of us. There were two entrances on opposite sides of the location. Bags and ids were checked at 11:30 and wristbands given out shortly after. Took about 2 minutes to get through the line and our tickets were waiting for us immediately upon entering.

As stated above, I briskly walked to the Perennial tent and had maybe 10 people ahead of me for BA Abraxas, snagged it no problem. Went to the Aslin location shortly after and had Bale for the first time (no line).

All in all a great event where I was able to check off my top 15 with no problems. Spent maybe an extra $60 for tickets but well worth it. Longest lines were Monkish, Jester King and Alchemist (they were selling full cans for 8 tickets and word quickly spread).

I would absolutely recommend VIP for next year, BA abraxas kicked well before the 1:30 GA time.

Agreed — this was the best Snallygaster to date, in terms of the organization, beer list and weather. The only thing I would change is to make it more like SAVOR in having a higher price in return for unlimited pours — the cost of many of the beers per pour is really high.

So it's worth $25 to get the opportunity to pay $10 (?) for a four ounce pour of BA Abraxas? Seems like my brother got a four ounce pour of CBS for $6 at 4pm.

BA Abraxas was 8 tickets ($8) I believe but that was certainly one aspect of the entire festival

Personally? Yes. BA Abraxas was the best beer I had yesterday, and that's saying something given the other brews I drank. I've been wanting to try it for a long, long time, and it totally met my very lofty expectations. Plus, it's not like you're going to find it for less money (or at all) around these parts. I don't think I've seen it anywhere here except Snally, and coughing up $2/oz was still less than a plane ticket to St. Louis.
I guess the CBS hype has died down. Probably good news for anyone looking to score bottles next month.

It seems like you coughed up $8+$25=$33 for four ounces, but maybe my math is off.

Right, because none of the other whales kicked before the VIP session ended, and I certainly didn't derive any benefit from 90 extra minutes and less crowding in the early going. Spot-on math right there.

Does whale even taste good? I'd rather have some wild caught salmon.

Best beer I had on Sat was Jester King's Atrial Rubicite. Raspberry jam'd.

Pen Druid's Spontaneous was very very good as well. Those guys don't get enough love.

I'm curious to know what actually kicked early. I was able to hit all of my must-haves in the first hour I was there, and there was literally not a single instance of a beer I really wanted to drink kicking before I got to it.

    - BA Abraxas was gone before GA at 1:30
    - Dinner, later in the afternoon
    - King Sue though I hit up TG last before leaving around 3:30ish

I got in at 1:30pm (near the front of the GA line), headed straight for BA Abraxas and King Sue and both were gone. Also, one of the four Cantlilons. After sharing a Cantillon and an Other Half stout with my wife, we sought out a Dinner at 2:00 or so and that was gone. Others, including Atrial Rubicite (which I've had before), were gone later in the day, but except for the three you mentioned, I got everything i prioritized.

I was very happy having skipped the VIP, lots of stellar selections left at GA. Though i would have loved to have seen some fatties on the run for the whales.
