Well, I have a 2015 and 2016 Bona Fide from 4Hands in my fridge right now. So I'd say I'd crack those open and do a little vertical.

If I was pulling out of my stash, heck, I don't know. I'd probably grab an Expedition Stout or Founder's Imperial Stout from last year.

Drinking one now, and I really enjoy it. It's rich and malty, but not overly so, with a gentle nuttiness and dried fig quality. The finish is nicely dry, and that's where the smoke comes on along with an earthy herbal character. There's a slight astringency too, but I'm hoping it goes away as it warms.

Today I'm going through the last of my Stone Xocoveza. Getting over a cold and still have a stuffed up nose so I didn't want to break out anything I hadn't tried before. This turned out to be a good choice, the spices cut through the stuffy nose and the brew is still delicious.

Since the Ten Fidy online tasting is underway, regular Ten Fidy, BA Ten Fidy and something I don't normally drink as a palate cleanser: B. Nektar Mutant Killer Zombie Manhattan Project Thingy which is a ciser with cherries aged on bourbon barrels. Actually quite tasty

You took the words right out of my mouth. :grinning::stuck_out_tongue:

But, yeah. It's been hovering near zero here, with wind chills in the negative teens, and I'm craving a big imperial IPA. And not just any one, either. It has to be fresh (and thus pretty hard to find around here). I have a cellar full of imperial stouts, but the hoppy stuff really hits the spot in weather like this. (Or in spring. Or summer.) Now I'm off to see if I can track one down. I have a Hop Stoopid on deck, just in case.

    Cheers!

Snow days often feel like stout days. It's a snowy afternoon and evening here in MA and we cracked our last bottle of the Trillium / Evil Twin collar Dusk Trill Dawn. Perfect choice for today.

I prefer to drink whatever I have on hand, preferably a nice, solid double IPA.

Something dark and malty, considerable bite of alcohol, warming.

    I drink while shoveling.

I said double IPA, but I am with you. Something like a Winter Warmer, Barleywine, or Imperial Porter/Stout.

Man, living in CA, I do miss living in Central NJ and getting a fresh dusting of snow.

To answer your question...barleywines or BA stouts are a good choice. When the polar vortex hit in 2015 I had some big IPAs to hold me over. Put on a good movie and watch the snow fall. Stay warm!

This. It's 5 degrees outside, I pulled a 2006 jw lees harvest from the basement. Warming carmel is nice on a night like this.
