No way they tweeted at 2:09 that the line had almost dissipated and to "come on out." With the release being at 4:00 how much sense would that have made?

I think some people might have misunderstood. They said the line had almost dissipated... "and to come on out". Did not say "come on out theres plenty of cases left". I think it was intended for their regulars letting them know the bottle release was about over and to drink and party with them for St. Pattys day. But who knows, just my opinion.

What did the golden ticket get you? I had a great time with no complaints. The chocolate bar is delicious.

That picture was taken about 4:15. So no way the tweet was in the 2:00 hour.

That's all there is to it. I agree it was disorganized but I was one of the first to get bottles because I showed up at 2:30 and lucked out on being right where the line started to form. Sure, they could've planned some things better, but anyone who's saying it was the most poorly organized beer event they've been to haven't been to that many beer events because I can name multiple I've been to that were worse. I had a great time both at the release and at Thirsty Monk's Cascade event shortly after where I had some of the best sours I've ever tasted.

A basket of French Broad Chocolate and other things as far as I remember. I was kind of hoping it would be beer related.

Except that you are wrong as I know people in the picture.

My daughter would probably explain to you how you should treat people.

Guys lets just relax. I agree with @Dil_thebeerdrinking_do in that I think they were saying that the line was almost gone and that the party was still going on. I'm sure there were still plenty of bottles of the stout left since I think most people making that trek wanted Snozz. I'm really sorry to hear that you were shut out and felt misled by that post @andyctree and I agree that it was just a bit unclear. Once Green Man expands I'm sure this will become a bit less of an issue.

Will be interesting to see if Maceo comes out soon or if they wait until after the expansion is complete. Will also be interesting to see if this is just the norm type of turnout for all their sour releases from here on or if it's just more for Snozzberry.

Do yall think there were less total bottles of Snozz than Bootsy or they were about the same and they just sold out quicker due to having more people there? Seems like Bootsy took a few hours longer and then still went into distro.

if you didn't show up until 2:30, you should have been about 50-60 people back. i get where they were coming from with the ticketing idea but they didn't really bother explaining it until everyone had already packed in on the covered patio.

Would just be speculating but based on the comments from the brewery, I'm thinking there was less Snozz than Bootsy. They also said there should be another batch of Snozz released later in the year. Didn't they also announce Maceo as a spring release awhile back when they first talked about Bootsy and Snozzberry?

Anyone know when the expansion is supposed to be finished? I would think they are probably a good year away based on the construction progress but I really have no clue.

I don't remember them specifying Maceo would be in the spring, but that definitely could be the case. As far as the brewery expansion, this link says "late summer 2015," which I would think would be the absolute earliest. So if it is the spring, then yeah it will definitely happen before the expansion.

Breweries are in a nearly can't-win position: At least one person leaves most bottle releases unhappy. What makes this dynamic worse (and getting worse), methinks, is that inevitably there are some folks who leave gloating. (The echo chamber of social media amplifies the gloating via "haul photos," etc.) The spirit of number systems at releases is to try to get the bottles in as many different unique* hands as possible.

Sadly, the way to combat this may be to go the way of Hunahpu's Day and simply make releases paid events and at a cost that finally makes it financially unattractive for the bottle-hoarding trade-pimps even to try to take advanage. Even more sadly, that also prices out a good number of folks who just wanted to try the beer.

*By "unique," I mean the number of final purchasers. That is, if John Smith brings his girlfriend, his Aunt Bessie and the Seven Little Little People to mule for him and the 20 bottles (presuming a two-bottle limit) end up in his back seat, I would argue that nine unique hands were denied an opportunity to buy the beer (a problem John Smith likely is willing to help you solve for the right trade/price). It's not technically illegal to speed up the merge lane to cut ahead of a dozen cars but it's a douche move nonetheless. (I recognize half those reading this will say, "Amen." And half will say, "I'm just getting mine. 'Murica.")

And to add insult to injury I just came across someone selling bottles on the secondary market for $250 :grimacing:

Had I just checked Facebook I would have seen that it is expected to be done in September. Guess construction was never my forte.

Couple thoughts... 1. before anyone chimes in with, cost events are only for the guys with lots of spending $$ and the regular guy feels left out. You will see this crowd speak out when it comes to "events" where you have to buy a set number of bottles, but that's all you get.

    2. Wicked Weeds Dark Arts event cost me the same per bottle, if memory serves, and once I got in they gave me tickets for 2 free beers and my costume got me a couple more free beers.

Yes, paid events maybe the way to go, but I think brewery's have to then worry about giving out free Beer or at least some free beer (ala Wicked Weed's event).

Out of curiosity? What did we get? Is it any good, has anyone tasted it yet? We could have all gotten tap water for all we know.:grinning:

Uh.. um... wow. Three bottles going up for sale, like now! No regular beer is worth anywhere near that amount, unless a worthy cause, aside from my waist line, is involved... sheesh...
