Actually, that's the thing: the ticketing thing made no sense. I was one of the first people to get bottles but I had ticket 828 and, when they started selling bottles, they said the first ticket was 73-something IIRC. The thing was that the first person to try and use a credit card stalled up the line because the swiper on the iPhone being used wasn't working, so one of the ladies started accepting cash from whoever had it. Me and my girlfriend had cash so we got bottles. I agree that I should have been 50-60 people back but they didn't announce where they were selling bottles. I was standing at the table, noticed there was a register and a box of the brown paper bags they always use and thought "This must be the place." The ticketing method doesn't work. They should do it the way Wicked Weed does it where you stand in line and they hand out wristbands right before sales start, then let people enter in groups.

And pretty well proving my point. Bottle-hoarding trade-pimps are the ticket scalpers of our so-called community. Their behavior will stop only when there's no incentive to continue: the point at which they can't find someone to take the other side of the trade. That happens when all BAs follow the lead of @NCMonte and recognize no single beer is "worth" every beer in your stash ... or $300 ... or ...

Thing is, I may be going out on a limb here, but this won't be necessary in the future. With the new expansion, there is no reason for them to make such a limited release... Going forward. If it is as good as I hope it is, and the fuss was all worth it, then by George, they should make a batch every few months.

Or am I all wrong in thinking this?

Depends on how much space they will be dedicating to barrels in the new facility. They may get more creative with the number of beers they barrel age and still keep quantities low.

In the future they should just do day of releases.

Asheville likes to sell itself as a local friendly area, and when you hype your release for a couple of weeks you end up selling your bottles to a lot of out of town folks.

If they had done this one blind similar to Bootsy all of the bottles still would have been sold, but they would have gone to locals.

Last year I bought around 7 bottles of Snozzberry because it sat on shelfs. I am annoyed that I didn't get any bottles this year as it is my favorite sour in Asheville. With all that being said, I am not that broken up about it as it is just beer.

I was at the release and one of those people in the pic at the front. There was only a dozen or so people there at 2pm. Bottles went on sale at 4 and by then there were a 150 plus. The tickets didn't help and really only caused more confusion. We got there at 11 so there was about 6-10 of us that claimed the first few spots but it was chaos after that. The first 24 people or so got to buy a bootsy as well. It definitely could have been more organized since I know people who got a 3rd bottle before some got their first. Plus you had no way to exit the patio after buying them. Other than the 10min I waited, it was fun

I'm just not real sure I understand the logic behind opening at 2 and then not starting selling the bottles until 4. It's one thing if you're going to wait until say, 6:00 or something so that you do it after most people get off work. But if it's going to be in the afternoon on a weekday anyway, why not just do the bottles as soon as you open and be done with it?

I was inside watching the chaos. There seemed to be a fair bit of line jumping. People were walking through the inside and reentering the line ahead of the people in the back of the line around the corner. It was amusing. I didn't stand in line and did not get a Snozzberry.

Funny, I got there at 2:45, got a beer and a ticket and a sandwich, got in line at about 3:15 and got two Snozz's. I was out of there at 4:30. It wasn't too hard.

    Reading comprehension skills?

Snozzberry sat on the shelf for weeks last year. Weeks! I must have gone to App Vintner and bought bottles 2 at a time for two weeks straight as some friends wanted to try it. I'm sorry about buying a bottle of beer no one cared about that I thoroughly enjoy.

Like I said, my main complaint was the Twitter comment when bottles were pretty much gone. And like I said, I am not that broken up about it.

They did say today that this was all new for them and did not expect the turnout that they got. They should have known that some of the things wouldn't work but they also only have a few employees and I am sure they will bring in friends to help next time. Even the bigger guys get it wrong (last year hunapu day) so I can forgive them for trying to put all their efforts into the experience and forgetting to plan for chaos if it happened.

I enjoyed the bottle share and the event a whole lot. It was awesome meeting some of you for the first time. It took a lot of pull to get that day off work and Im glad I did. If they announced the day of I would have been shut out.
