So Cal Trading Extras

    I'm new to trading and try to participate in the trend of sending extras along with beers.

    I find it hard to send anything worthwhile since we don't get 4-packs of great stouts like they have available on the east coast. The bombers of good stouts and IPA's, are typically $8+, which for smaller trades can be a large percentage of the $4$. The good stuff that is in 4-packs are already widely distributed. Do you guys have any recommendations? Stuff that has been received well?

    The only thing on my list right now would be:

    Modern Times
    Ballast Point (for the handful of states that don't get them)
    Pliny (to the deserving)

    I like modern times and pizza port - unique to SoCal and always well received.

    More states don't get Ballast Point than states that get it :astonished:

    I don't know how widely distributed they are, but I like Black Market and Bootleggers.

    I've been sending Modern Times Fortunate Islands as extras like crazy . . . recently, someone turned around and set up another trade so he could get two more 4-packs.

    OP's talking about extras, but I have occasionally thrown in an Alpine as an extra just to blow someone's mind.

    I also like plinys as extras since they don't trade for much anymore. However, they are gold as extras.

    Fresh FW makes great extras for states out of distro.

    Crazy, I always thought they were much wider distributed, so never bothered looking at the distro map.

    Those are definitely great and readily available 12oz bottles that don't break the bank.

    Like others have mentioned -- Modern Times and Pizza Port are always good adds. I've added Golden Road's Wolf Among Weeds a few times to very positive feedback. Works both ways, since it's a quality DIPA and is easy to locate in LA and OC.

    Seeing ModernTimesJacob poking around these threads from time to time . . . dude, I can't go through FI fast enough, and everyone I send some to loves it. Any plans for upping production? At least send more to Bill's in Atwater! :grinning:

    Actually found FI on tap last night (had only had in cans until then). Really is such a refreshing beer.

    Do you have specific bottles in mind? Personally I like Hopocalypse but that's an $8 bottle.
