^This, spot on. For the larger 'craft' breweries it's all about being the first one on the shelves and trying to get an extra week or two of sales before your competitors can get into the mix. In NJ, my distributor is already out of Sam Adams Summer and they will be ready to roll out the Octoberfest the first freaking week of August. And people will want it. The Sierra Summerfest is also done, though no word on when the Tumbler will be released to stores/bars, but probably not long after the SA.
This is why I love the 'little' guys.

Is "best of beer camp" different from the regular beer camp 12 packs that come out every year? Because there most definitely is a beer camp variety 12 pack this year. https://www.facebook.com/sierranevadabeer

Don't get me wrong, I love fall, it's my second favorite season behind summer, but cotdamn this is beyond stupid. I guess it's driven by consumers somewhat, but *Seth Meyers voice* Really?!? Do we need a Octoberfest/Pumpkin beer to be out in the middle of July?!? Do we really want summer to be gone that fast, that we can't wait until Mid-September, or gasp October to be able to buy this?

Maybe I just think an Octoberfest beer is something that has never excited me, beyond Schell's version, I'd gladly pass up any O-fest beer for a stout, barley wine, porter, scotch ale/old ale in the fall. Hope I'm not in the minority here...

Well, hell. I guess I am going to have to stock up on summer beers this weekend. Last year by the second week of August there was none to be found, which is frustrating when its 95 degrees and all you can find is octoberfests and pumpkin beer.

Anyone who disagrees with the following statement doesn't know any better, but the best Octoberfest beer is New Glarus Staghorn. They'll release it at the appropriate time. They're definitely doing it right.

Staghorn is up there for me, but I still think the best one I had last year was Ayinger. My favorite American Oktoberfest surprisingly was from Millstream, but this is debatable because last summer was when I really got into craft. I'm jonesing for them to hit the shelf again, because I'm planning on doing an Oktoberfest blind taste test with my buddies to settle this.

"Fall" doesn't begin in my part of Texas until about Oct. 1 ... if then ... (I'm tempted to ask "What is this thing you call 'fall?'")

So I'd like to see fall seasonals show up no sooner than mid-September.

I don't have a huge problem with the early releases. I like to gradually transition season to season. I don't think about Fall beers until mid-Aug. though. Last year, I had a UFO Pumpkin around then, while at the same time I was still stocked with a few summer beers.

Not that big a deal in my opinion. As for freshness concerns, I just make sure I consume within 2-3 months of release and I'm OK.

Oh it's this thread again? the one that pops up every 4 months exactly?

Not surprising. My store got pumpkin beers last week and put them in storage until September. They're good until February anyway...no point in rushing them into shelves.

    You're distributor doesn't know shit.
You shouldn't post saying things that you have no clue about.
