Why BUY 4th of July decorations? Or if you really, reaaaaally need them, why not save them and use 'em next year instead of chucking them and having to buy more?

Re: the actual topic at hand. Eh, whatever. It's supposed to be in the lower 70s (for a high) here tomorrow - that's early fall temps in my book. I'm okay with leaving work around midnight, walking out into temps that may only hit the upper 50s, and cracking open a fall beer.

I always wait to drink anything fall related liquid (marzens, pumpkin ale, apple cider, etc.) until at least September 1.. Even though it's still usually around 90 degrees in Charlotte.

I just can't do a super spiced up pumpkin beer while sweating. Call me crazy! Not sure why the breweries releasing this stuff in July don't get it!??

I really do love Tumbler but it is way to early for it IMO...My first Tumbler will be consumed watching the opening kickoff of the 2013 Ohio State Buckeye football season!!

I don't mind Marzens all year round. I don't want pumpkin beers right now though. 90+ degrees doesn't make me crave pumpkin beer at all.

I'm just saying, It's been high 90's with ridiculous humidity in SEVA lately. I usually like to wait til I can throw on a hoodie and sit around a fire before I start hitting the fall beers.

I asked about this at the Sam Adams brewery tour on Saturday and was told it's all about being the first to market. While that makes sense, I still don't like it. I don't want to be unable to buy Oktoberfest or Pumpkin beers in October because it's all sold out. It's weird and wrong and dumb.

The light just went on. Brewers are following the same release schedule as the clothing manufacturers.

If that were true, the Summer Seasonals would go on sale about June 1

Incorrect. Walk into any Hollister, Pac Sun, wherever and you won't find a hoodie in November. Sold out. Bathing suits release in January/February.

If I recall the last shopping expedition with my wife, the summer clothing comes out in March or so, the Winter Clothing comes out in August, etc.
If you still don't agree with my reference, the brewers are following Hallmark's schedule or the schedules of the stores that put out the Halloween merchandise the day after Labor day and the Christmas merchandise the day after Halloween.
Bottom line is - they all put out their stuff early to be the first. After all, this is the good old U.S.A. and everybody has to be first.

On the converse of the argument, brewers would probably DOMINATE the market if they actually still brewed Octoberfest beers until october. All the other breweries sell out a month earlier and you have no choice in what fall seasonal you want to drink.
