I had it on tap Saturday and It was pretty good, but not good enough to make me want to come back to buy bottles. In my opinion it was not comparable to Citra. I remember having Hop Ninja right after and thinking it was so much better.

Hmm... I've seen a decent amount of feedback similar to the above. Since I can't get down there, may still end up grabbing two bottles at Whole Foods (will grab at least one, anyway).

I had it last Saturday and I thought it was less good than KRBC Citra but better than Citra Showers. It had a stronger malt backbone than KRBC Citra which wasn't really my thing but considering what a pain in the ass it is to get KRBC Citra I'll take it. 20 bucks for a brand new growler plus a fill is damn good. IMHO, Citra hops don't hold up very long they must be consumed quickly so not sure how great the bottles will be but I heard it was bottled Monday so for now they should be great.

It really tastes very different than Kern Citra, showers, double sunshine or any other big juicy citra focused DIPA you can name. It's only 7% and doesn't have enough residual sweetness and malt backbone to really push the big ripe fruit flavors you might be hoping for. That all being said, I cold easily drink more pints of it than the other beers. Not because its better, but because it goes down really light.

Had it on tap last week at BWLB and 2 growler fills. I believe this is their 3rd CitraHolic batch. All good. I boycotted the bottle release yesterday. Will pick up a bottle or two at the local. Not the same as KRBC Citra. But still enjoyable. Will open one of he growlers when I get a bottle to compare. I thought Hop Ninja tasted better this time over the CitraHolic. But both are different ipa's.

Amalgamator is a better IPA in your opinion?

Amalgamator is fantastic. Just had Citraholic on tap. It's good, but it's nothing mindblowing. The Falcon is coming out next week though. That and Denver Jackhammer are my two favorite Beachwood IPAs

Fresh bottles hit SD yesterday, drank one last night. I thought it was very tasty, but far from their best IPA.

No question. More complex hop flavor and a little caramel to bring it all out.

Yep. As the kids like to say, it's very sessionable. Could drink this all day long.

For you guys who have had all the batches of Citraholic, how does this compare? What are the differences between the batches? I can't front--based on the praise some of you guys lavished on previous batches, my expectations were high and I can't help but feel those expectations weren't met. It was a highly quaffable IPA, but because it was so dry, it was missing all the layers I was thinking it would have. I didn't see anything that would separate it from a standard West Coast IPA brewed in SD.

I hadn't had it since the first batch two years ago, so it's hard to compare. I remember enjoying it but I never thought it was as good as Amalgamator or Thrillseeker and others. I was a bit surprised to see all the over the top talk about it, though I just attributed it to being an IPA with citra in the name. That being said I had the new batch last week and I thought it was a very good IPA, still a notch below their best.

Over-the-top is a good phrase to describe some of the talk. I feel like it does more harm than good.

First whiff- blew me away. Then just "enjoyed" it but wasn't blown away the whole time I had the next couple pints. It's a good beer. A very good beer. I was surprised at the bitterness in it, which I feel like I've been immune to quite a bit over the last handful of years. Only grabbed one bottle just to revisit in my own peace and quiet, or if I get a chance to share with friends.

Weird thing was, after 2 pints (at 7.1 it's a moderately strong beer), I didn't feel a thing. Generally I'd feel at least a little something, sometimes more. My friend had 3 (within about 90 min) plus a alpha galactic and said he didn't feel anything! I think they lied about that ABV

Wish i got to try it on cask. I drank a bottle of it yesterday and found it wonderfully easy to put down. Can knock several of them away no problem. Would like more nose though as others stated.
