I have been a lurker and sometimes poster since Late 2010. I just this month started really looking at the ISO:FT forum. I for one dont look for the whales or the limited releases.

I live in Florida, we have shit for distribution. My only saving grace is having a few really good brands avialable to me locally. So some of the FT:ISO I see is like reading greek.
Maybe a different forum to just do LOCAL 4 LOCAL trades may be a good thing. I think most noobs start this way then as they accumulate a cellar and knowledge they can graduate to the big boy forum.

    Just a thought

    Nitpicking is easier!

Anyway, I think everyone who has responded agrees with your basic outline, all of which are good ideas. Are you looking for input on threadshitting definitions or moderator nominations, and where/how would you like them? I second shogo's nomination, and would need to think a bit about a definition for threadshitting.

That's definitely a downside, but to.me the posts that really are dispicable are the ones everyone knows are off limits. Its he borderline stuff that I think would benefit from a brighter line. Also an auto timeout for liking or quoting a post like that could deter people from carrying on.

Brainstorming here, but cap the max number of posts in a trade thread? I've seen a few useful trade thread discussions, but they'd be better off in the General Trade forum. Most long threads are just shouting or bumping.

Whales can be "locals" too...so that probably wouldn't work too well.

Not supported. Hacking code for a single forum would be required. And this is not necessarily a solution either.

Well I was going to suggest capping it at one.

Yeah but a whale would most likely be indicated in the FT___ or the ISO___, most people that have whales or are looking for whales would be more specific in there posting titles.

That's definitely fair, I didn't hear the whole story, nor can I 100% verify it, but to me that is the point. I think an integral part to having a solution for the shit show that is the trading forum is transparency, and I'll leave it at that.

If we can't trade for mead then there shouldn't be reviews for it on the main site

They're not allowed; as stated when you add a beer. See one? Report it. Thank you, and goodnight.

so there are no mods, but there is someone tracking "warning points"? This is a serious question.

I don't think there should be separate threads for "whales" as those definitions are loose. The only type of separation i would like to see are IP trades, however I bet that would be a pain to implement (would each region have their own forum?).

Bros: I have been seeing some IP trades listed in regional forums. Is this allowed or would they be moved to the general trading forum? I think they make sense to be in the regional section, so more people who care can see them. However, it would suck to have those clogging up 90% of the forum.

We'll start a separate post for this, but basically we can assign warning points with various options and apply them when issuing a warning before handling reported content. If a users get too many warning points they get put into timeouts or bans. This gives people ample chances to change their posting habits.

So Braggots are ok even though they tend to lean more toward mead than beer. OK got it

Who said there were no mods? Jason and I have been mods (one of many hats) since we first installed a forum in the late 90's. And as mods, we can also see warning points; it's not like we're tracking them in our heads.

Do you have anything for the topic?
