Just finished an Amber Ale with WLP-029...plan on taking this one to an event in October. I am going to add Mandarin oranges and vanilla to please the soda pop drinkers. I'm done taking brews to events that I would like to drink : )

I'm digging it so far, which says a lot considering its not carbed and hasn't been dry hopped. I've heard some claims of pungent citrus/grapefruit from dry hopping, so curious... were your beers just pure resin/dank or did you get some citrus from them?

Mine were a grapfruit/orange citrus, with an elusive tropical element as well. Tropical seemed fleeting, but that could be process related. I am a 60min, 15 min, DH type brewer. Other hop schedules may bring that tropical out.

I brewed a coffee stout on Thursday. I wanted to try a little something different. I added 1/4 lb. of ground coffee to the mash. Then I steeped 1/4 1b. of ground coffee for a first wort. I plan to use 1/2 lb. of coffee beans in secondary.
I wish my O.G. would have been higher 1.056, but I collected 6 gallons. (more than I intended)

Doing 3 3-gallon APA batches tomorrow. One big grain bill split into 3 batches, each one single-hopped with either Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, or Motueka. We'll see what these N.Z. hops bring to the party.

I will be brewing my first DIPA on Sunday. Excited because it will be the first time using White Labs San Diego super strain and Galaxy hops (in addition to Wilamette and cascade)

For the first time I'm returning to a recipe. Denny Conn's Vanilla Bourbon Imperial Porter. Came out great the first time I brewed it. Let's see if i can brew it again with the same results!

Nice, I'm bottling this tomorrow! Samples have tasted soooo damn good, so I'm stoked to see how it will be after I add bourbon and give it some time in the bottles. If I have time, I'll also keg the brown ale that I did with pecans in the mash and a couple of ounces of really high quality cocoa beans at flameout. Probably won't get to brew this weekend, but I've got a nice Nelson Sauvin APA that I did last year lined up next.

This time I think I'm going Brandy/Vanilla instead of bourbon. With a base this good, I don't think you can go wrong!

BTW - I didn't add the bourbon vanilla at bottling. I left it on the 'tincture' or whatever for 2 weeks. Came out great that time. Plan on doing the same 6 or so weeks.

Yeah, I did the whole beans in secondary twice (6 beans total) because I'm doing this for Christmas presents, so I was worried the vanilla would fade too much by then. Hopefully it wont be overpowering, but I think some time in the bottles will mellow and meld things nicely. I'm just adding bourbon that had an oak spiral soaking in it for bottling. Brandy vanilla will be great...yeah, this base beer was tasting awesome right out of primary before any treatments, so I agree that you probably can't go wrong with some different variations.

I meant in 6 or so weeks. Not that I was going to leave it on the beans/brandy for 6 weeks. LNBA might be getting to me!

Brewingfor the first time tomorrow. Trying a tripel from a kit that will be modified a little. Going full wort boil instead of partial and doing a yeast starter instead of the sprinkle and pray technique.
