So you're at a craft beer bar...

Do you ever drink the same beer the whole time?

I never do. I like to shop around and try a few different glasses (styles, breweries, whatever.) Even when I'm at a brewpub I'll sample thier beers.

Again, Jack's Abby blew my mid tonight. I drank 3 Hoponious Unions and left happy.

....So do you jump around and has there been a beer that made you stop for a moment?

Nope. Unless they have a really small selection and I'm only interested in 1 beer, or if I'm only there for a really limited release beer. Otherwise I like to drink one then move on to the next.

Happy and a tad confused, what a nice state to be in. Cheers!

Fifty fifty swap or drink all the same. Just depends on the mood I'm in.

No way. Anytime I go into a bar with a good selection, my mindset immediately is "okay, how many of their beers can I try before I start upchucking?", later followed by "thank God I'm not the designated driver tonight."

Depends on what's there. My local had 2010 Abyss on draft for about a month and I drank that and only that every time I went in. Lately they've got five barleywines from 07-09 on draft, and I keep going for 08 Bigfoot and 08 Alaskan in half pints each time I go. If there isn't something special or some beer I love, I'm likely to mix it up a good deal more than that.

I like to mix it up, I feel drinking the same beer can get boring. The only time I haven't mixed it up is when a bar down the street got Stone IRS on-tap last year and the only thing I had 2 or 3 of the same drink at a bar with good selection.

The way I look at it, if I find myself someplace where I only want to drink one beer, it's not a craft bar. I first look at draught-only offerings, followed by new bottled beer (especially seasonals) or ones I have yet to try. If I'm going to drink the same thing, I'd rather just pick up a sixer and drink at home.

definitely what mood im in and what beer it is... a good easy drinking IPA will sometimes get me through a whole night (a little racer 5 action, perhaps)

So you have never had a beer at a bar that was so good you said "Well I have to have another one" ?

When the bar is loaded with beers I have never tried before, I always switch my orders up.

Heck, up until the past couple weeks I hadn't bought a regular sixer for at least 8 months, choosing instead to build my own six packs for the variety.

I'm always up for when something strikes me as being so right, so perfect for that moment that I want another and another. The cask offering may be 'on' that night, or a just-tapped keg is at its peak, or some oddball thing catches you off guard, or a particular beer seems to match the environment so well, etc. It's a great wave to ride when it happens.

But still, even in those moments I usually finish with a nitecap of something completely different. So- no hard and fast rules, even when the majority of the night has been spent riding the same pony.

While I may have multiples on occasion of something special on tap, I like to try new things every time. Taps rotate often, so I try not to miss out on anything if possible.

I very rarely drink the same beer twice at any brewpub. My only exceptions were drinking Deschutes The Abyss on tap at The Alibi Room in Vancouver and when Central City Brewpub has their Red Racer Imperial IPA on tap. If the beers are that ridiculously good and that much better than anything else, then I will have two.

I mean, if you go to the Russian River brewpub in February; would you not have two Pliny the Youngers? Of course you would.

I'll always try a few things, especially if it's something new to me. If I'm in an Irish pub, I'll usually stick with one beer for a few hours.
