What are the best beer bars in New York City to watch the World Cup. I'm looking for a great selection of beer, a good crowd and soccer audio.

Radegast was a fun place to watch when I went on Saturday. Big screen and a good atmosphere. Beer there isn't going to be barrel-aged anything, but to me, a litre of a good lager is better for watching football than a snifter of a BA stout

edit - and although I haven't been during this WC, Zum Schneider will be along the same lines. if anything, better

I went to The Jeffrey today for the US-Germany game. It was packed, audio was on and of course, plenty of great beers.

I'd lean towards going to Alewife instead though. Much more space and screens.

Might as well tack on Fools Gold to that list, Patrick's new bar on Houston.

Great topic , I want to watch Tuesdays game in a bar packed with US fans, don't really need it to be a craft bar, just a place with fans really into it. Suggestions?

I've only checked their website, but Zum Schneider is really into it. Check out the details here for special events (scroll down):

The beer there is fantastic and well cared-for, especially the Traunsteiner beers.

Legends aka The Football Factory on 33rd St. should be a solid option for any game especially the US game. They have the usual taps, nothing more, though. Best part...it's literally crawling distance from Rattle n Hum. I believe right across 5th Ave.

Some fans rate Nevada Smith's, east of Union Square (not sure the exact locations), but I think NS's is overrated.

Stout, right outside Penn Station, might be a good option for the OP, too. They usually have one or two solid tap choices and then the usual lineup. Problem there though...it might be crowded there, and it's not fun there when it's crowded. I haven't really been in there in awhile, though.

I don't think you necessarily need to go to a soccer bar for the game. Every bar will have tons of US fans at it(if they have tv's). I was at Nevada Smiths to watch the Brazil game and left bc it was too packed. Went to small Irish bar and it was packed with soccer fans.

I think i must've misread or read more of the replies. Any beer bar most likely will have sound on but remember less tv's so you just gotta get there early and post up at the bar
