I know Societe did a first tasting at their In the Barrel event, but does anyone know when these will be available to the public?

I think on the Under My Host podcast they said fall is their current target. It’s a moving target though.

Well its San Diego, so summer is followed by spring, then summer, so i hope that helps.

Yeah, when it's time to reset your clock to Daylight Savings Time, that should be a reminder to check again for the beer.

...Or, you can wait for the announcement of their next release party that will allow you three 6 oz pours and a sampling of wild hedgehog canapys and stinky cheese for 100 bucks.

Actually they did unlimited pours of the sours and a great 4ish course meal and gave first rights of sours to those in attendance.

Perhaps I was thinking of the anniversary party, which originally included a limit of one drinks, food and a t-shirt for $45 until something (lack of ticket sales? public hue and cry?) led them to lower the admission and allow unlimited drinks.

Glad they went unlimited beer for the sour release. For a three course, $100 event, it should have included sour beer enemas.

Yes, and the anniversary party ended up being fantastic after they re-tooled the setup. The food-centric concept works for beer pairing dinners, but isn't what most people look for in a brewery anniversary party. Thankfully, they listened and ended up pulling off a fantastic event.

Between that anniversary party, sour beer fest and prices on things like their glass growlers, Societe has an obvious tendency to want top dollar. But I guess if I don't like it, I don't have to buy their products. Too bad, because their beer is excellent, IMO.

Are you local? Their beer makes it out to quite a few bars with good regularity, and the prices at their tasting room as far as tasters/pints (well 12oz glasses and chalices) are quite reasonable. I don't disagree about the growlers/events, but in San Diego, getting their beer for a good price is pretty easy.

This is true. I can't ever remember paying for a pint at Societe and getting my glass back half full. Thanks.

Societe is one of the few places where I've always felt like I've gotten more than I've paid for. The anniversary was unlimited beer, including Butcher and Roustabout if I recall correctly.

The sour dinner was even more impressive, as it was seemingly endless appetizers with unlimited pours of their normal line up, followed by a substantial amount of food and pours of their sours, and ended with unlimited pours of any of the sours presented. Beyond that, the $100 ticket had the hidden bonus of having first rights to bottled versions of their sour lineup. If I had been at any other brewery, I would have guessed a price tag of $200+ on the night.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took a loss or barely broke even on the night. They definitely went out of their way to provide a great experience, provided plentiful and great food, plus the unlimited pours of basically all of their beers.

Has this just become the great white buffalo? It seems to be perpetual "Fall of whatever year it is" release- maybe it actually IS an elaborate prank due to San Diego lacking a proper Fall. I love Societe, so I don't mean to be an ass- but seriously, did something happen?... Did they have to ditch a batch and start over?

Societe is in a race with Hoparazzi. To see who can open last.

I think I've made peace with that. Pupil is a damn nice consolation. Was hoping for a BA Butcher someday though...

It's their Procrastination. I'm pretty sure by next year San Diego will be down to one season.
