I think it might have more to do with the building owner, and not wanting to get dinged by the city. I think that area is designated as a historical district and there is a lot of money going into rebuilding there.

It doesn't always have to be about pretenciousness.

A sign doesn't have to be gaudy neon. It can be as simple as this:

Makes sense if that were the case. It is easy to see when they are open and closed from a distance if nothing else. I second that I really like the Tired Hands cafe sign.

I doubt that's the case. Check out the Google Street View of the previous businesses in that building. Both have signs

Most of their social media posts are way too serious to be talking about beer.

"When you believe in something so strongly that it becomes an emblem of who you are and where you belong, it makes you want to fly a flag."

2nd rate Tired Hands doesn't want to put up a sign. Makes sense.

I get some of the hate for Sole because the founder does come off as a bit pretentious in his postings, but I just went to the new space in Easton yesterday and thought it was really nice. It was an inviting clean space, well designed, the bartenders were all really friendly, and the beer was pretty good. I would go back. The design reminded me of Torst, but a bit smaller but a less douchey atmosphere.

There’s some sensibility in their IPA’s + staff is super friendly as @jerseytiger stated + Sole has a pretty decent pils on their hands: soft, creamy, silky, and super drinkability. Granted, it’s more chewer and frothier than clean or crisp. Nonetheless, it’s grassy and bready with notes of crackers, cereal grains, lemons, citrus and caramelized malt. It’s a solid pills with a beautiful emphasis on the hops…just wish they had 16oz on hand, but 32oz will do

Pineapple Smoosh was also quite good, and more complex than your traditional smoothie IPA (i.e. hints of bitterness up front with candy cane elements upon opening). But the real winner was Moasic Nerd: dank/grass, orange, papaya, and berry like – one of the better representation of Mosaic in recent memory

The downside was Naked Yoga, where the cayenne was it’s only saving grace as the palate experiences mostly bland/cardboard. Nonetheless, it does get better as it warms up, letting out more coconut, which is nearly nonexistent upon first glance. This may seem harsh, but it’s a good brew, and if it’s any consolation then prefer it over Finback’s High Contrast
