Heading up there for a day training, wondering if there is a bottle shop there that carries different stuff than we can get in Charlottesville. Hitting Pupatella for lunch so Arlington would be better than Fairfax.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like Westover Market is about 1.5 miles from Pupatella. They have a large selection but expect high prices. Doubt there will be much of a difference from what is available in Cville. There is a Lost dog directley across the street that sells some bottles also. But has a much smaller selection.

Edit: Forgot to add i've heard good things about arrowine in arlington and there is a TW right off 395 in Alexandria.

Westover is overpriced like crazy. Total Wine in Alexandria is pretty big. Arrowine is nice. Probably the best shop in the area is the Whole Foods in Fair Lakes which if you take 29 to get to and from this area and Charlottesville is right on the route.

Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits was worth the trip for me, but not sure if you want to drive all that way. They carry stuff from Great Lakes Brewing that I've never seen in our area before, along with lots of others.

Need to bump this. Going to be Alexandria Wednesday afternoon and through Thursday evening. Need a good bottle shop to grab some beers I can't get in Pittsburgh. Where should I go? Does Hop Drop make it that far north?

No Hop Drop in VA at all. Go to K-1 Beer and Wine on Columbia Pike. If that's too far from Alexandria, Unwined is a nice little shop in Alexandria proper. Its much smaller, but they seem to know what they're doing and have great prices. You should try to go to K-1 if you can though.

Though it's not a bottle shop, Port City is in Alexandria. They will have six packs of a lot of their beers available to go, and growler fills as well.

I'm also in the area over the holidays...is Total Wine a good place to find local bombers and hard-to-find East Coast beers? I'm hoping to bring back one box, mostly special stuff.

if you are going by way of 66 then stop by Norm's in Vienna. I see that mentioned a lot. It's in the Tysons area.

Dominion in Falls Church is a pretty good bottle shop as well.

Thanks; they get a lot of mention so I'll make the stop!
