Looking for any advice or info for a new BA looking for the best barrel aged stouts and barleywines that can be found in San Diego area I can find available... Which ones are good... I have had kbs and love that beer so I want to build a cellar of all barrel aged stuff, old ales too. Thanks for all your help
Slim pickin's. You could try some of Lost Abbey's barrel aged old ales (Angel's Share, Deliverance), but the quality is kind of a crap shoot. Otherwise, there are very few BA stouts or barleywines off the shelf.
Two great ones came and went this year with no fanfare: Karl 23rd and Coronado BA BW. Odd chance you can still find those at unsuspecting places. Also if you line up at AleSmith RIGHT NOW there is a chance you get a chance at their next BA release.
Start hunting bottleshops, that's your only real chance to see what's out there. Pick 1 a day and go visit. Otherwise, you just have to wait for a release, and buy extra bottles.
I hate giving Clem's business (because their prices are ridiculous) but I saw Coronado's BBW and 50/50 Eclipse variations the last time I was there. I bet they have some BA Lost Abbey stuff too.
Anyone know where I can find a bottle of Coronado BA bw or anyone have an extra bottle to help a newbie out? I can't find one anywhere.... Please and thank you
