My parents are currently at a conference in Sonoma with no access to a car. My dad will be in meetings most of the day, with some day trips scheduled where transportation is provided. I would really love it if he could bring a bottle or 2 of Russian River in his checked baggage. He will not be willing to go out of his way to bring me back beer, but would be happy to oblige if it were easy for him. Does anyone know of any beer/grocery delivery services? Are there going to be any Pliny/Blind Pig/Sours sitting on shelves in Sonoma or is this just a wild goose chase unless he goes up to the brewery itself. Any input appreciated!
Depends on where the conference is in Sonoma. Most Oliver's Markets get their Pliny delivery on Tuesdays. You have to ask the beer/wine guy if they have any in, they don't put it on the shelves. I believe Blind Pig is only for sale out of the brewery right now, but I could be mistaken. The sours are hit and miss, but you can find them once in a while at Oliver's or Whole Foods. I do not know of any places that deliver beer via the delivery grocery service, but again I have never used those types of services. Good luck and I hope you can find some. Cheers
He's at Fairmont Inn Sonoma. Looks like there is a Whole Foods about 2 miles away. If there are no delivery services, I may just be out of luck unless he gets taken to dinner next door by chance. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
The Fairmont is a nice enough hotel that I'm sure if he asked the concierge there, they might be able to get some for you. RR is not extremely far from the Fairmont so I'm sure the hotel could do something. I find that the nicer the hotel is the more the concierge's are willing to help you out. It's basically a add on service that you are paying that is rolled up into the price of the rooms.
Whole Foods gets their RR delivered on Wednesdays if I am not mistaken. I cannot say for certain about the Sonoma Whole Foods but other ones in the area that I have been to will save you a bottle (maybe 2) if you call the day before. Like Hopasouras mentioned, Blind Pig is only available at the brewery now (or so I have been told).
Whole Foods was out but my dad (who only typically likes BMC) went on a long walk for me to try and find it and luckily found some at Olde Sonoma Public House! He had one at another pub on the way and actually enjoyed it. I may find a way to get him into craft after all.
