After spending many days at the local tasting rooms watching people laugh and smile and converse with friends over a $5 pints of whatever I sometimes worry that beer is no longer causing anyone any heartache...but then I venture over to BA and I worry no more.

Have two more tickets. Interested in trading them for their face value in beer. Otherwise I'll just bring a couple of drunks with me.

I would think a lottery would be difficult, especially when most purchasers want more than 1 ticket. Not all that easy to hold drawings for people if they have multiple requests--hard to allocate.
Also, in a lottery like Powerball, you buy chances, not tickets, and most of the time not win. With Sourfest lottery, how many people would be buying chances and get shut out? Quite a few. You could "buy" chances for free, but how would someone register; one entry per person, name, computer....? Methinks that's way too complex :sunglasses:

Get a lottery ticket every time you visit the brewery in the month or two (or more) leading up to the event. That way you get the people that support you and increase sales on other days.

The standard is to allow everyone to get one entry. Allowing people to buy more creates a rich-get-richer situation.

One entry = one ticket? This would inhibit small groups from going (friends, significant others). I think it could be done, but would it be better than status quo? I dunno

"Get a lottery ticket every time you visit the brewery in the month or two (or more) leading up to the event. That way you get the people that support you and increase sales on other days"
But what about those people who support the brewery via stores and bars? And then how would the drawing work...one ticket per win? What if one dude wins 100 times? Just spit-balling potential issues as compared with current system.
BTW, I'm not going, so no care either way

Willy Wonka golden mf'n ticket! I want to get stuck in the fizzy lifting drinks room of sour beer. I think I can handle it now that I know how to survive.

Haven't worked out all the details, but i'm sure it can be done. You get picked you can buy a pair (or four) tix? Just talking here, not saying I have all the answers. I won't be there either, as I was shut out.
