Sour smelling Titan IPA

    So, I'm drinking a Great Divide Titan IPA and while its tasting pretty good and its very fresh, I'm getting a sour milk type of smell. Did I get an infected bottle or is this just how this beer smells. Noit getting much citrus or pine, but more of a sour orange smell?

    Whats the bottling date? Have you contracted Great Divide? Did you have a cold? Eat something? Are outside? Windy day? Many variables could go into it.

    Its 15 days old so freshness shouldn't be a factor, just drain poured the last one, cracked another. Definitely not as much of a sour smell but its still a bit there. Served it cold, inside, in a tumbler pint. Maybe they'll get better with each bottle.

    I once had a Titan that was nearly 2 YEARS old. (wife bought it, drank it any way). Looked like one of those snow scene things that you turn upside down. Smelled allright, and tasted OK, once I blocked out the thought of yeastie flakes.

    That's how it smells. I cant drink Titan because of it. Taste is decent but I can't deal with the smell.

    Its getting a bit better as it warms and the taste is solid, but meh, a bit of a let down with this one considering its high ratings, but hey that's life right?

    You might contact GD about it. Disregarding the ratings, Titan is a pretty "normal" IPA. If you like others like Two Hearted, Avery, Stone, etc. then Titan shouldn't be a grand departure. There certainly aren't any love/hate hops or anything like that in it. There might be something wrong with it if it's that bad.
