I'm still getting used to this version of the website and searching for things - I haven't been on here in years. I apologize if this is a frequent topic...

I'm looking to find wooden barrels for a project - I don't need them for brewing, so I'm not worried about what was in them. I figure I'd ask here first.

Does anyone have any leads on used barrels? Size doesn't really matter.

    Thanks in advance!

Probably not a good place to ask here @DevinReed, most people here are looking for more pristine barrels (and smaller), if you are wanting a barrel for a project, check out eBay. Search google and you will get a lot of hits. Also might check for used wine barrels since there are some vineyards up in the new york area

Check craigslist maybe? Maybe check local whiskey distilleries. Not sure of your size needs but I know the one in RI (Sons of Liberty) has sold some of their smaller barrels in the past.

Probably too far - but just found this:

I looked into this a while ago myself. You can find thing on craigslist and even hit up a few local distilleries and wineries, but be prepared to pay well for them... They are too popular. It made my project unaffordable.

Go visit a region with lots of small wineries - there's a good chance the person pouring wine is the winemaker or owner and they could sell you one right there. Bring a truck. I suggest Lodi - lots of small wineries.

I bought mine from a local brewery that was done using them. If you know of a brewery that uses them to age beer in, ask if they will sell them to you! I got four in my back yard.
