A crisp sour is definitely a beer to behold. But "biggest sour," "most mouth-puckeringly sour"? Sounds like we're heading in the same direction we've headed in venerating certain IPAs by virtue of their IBUs at the expense of balance. What next? An "International Sour Unit" (ISU)? :grinning: Anyway ... Some of my personal sour faves: Duchesse de Bourgogne, Rodenbach Grand Cru, Jack's Abby Berliner Weisse, Jolly Pumpkin's Luciernaga, and Jester King's Boxer's Revenge.

I'm new to sours as well and I really enjoyed what I've tried so far (which is like 6 or something low). Love Child #3 was by far the most sour I've encountered but I haven't found anything close that matches the lip puckering, eye bulging, head shaking gem that was Love Child #3. I've found others that taste great and are indeed sour, but I'm searching for the extreme sourness as well.

Jolly Pumpkin Lucienerga, Oude Gueuze, and New Glarus Berliner Weisse had a solid sourness. That's really all I can recommend.

I don't think I could ever get used to this level of sourness. Don't get me wrong, I like some sours, but the more balanced ones. Sometimes I feel like I'm missing out, but the more I delve into this style I'm starting to feel like I just can't stand the ultra-sours.

The latest batch of Upland Persimmon by far. It tasted like liquified warhead candy.

    Mother Funker.

And I have 1 bottle left, that is likely heartburn in a bottle by now.

Persimmon, Sour reserve, Kiwi, shoot.. all of them! Thats why I love em. even though that aged Beatification at Younger day was pretty sour. But that was along side beautiful hoppy bitterness!

I love that you use a pH meter when drinking beer.

I'd say either Tilquin Quetsche a l'Ancienne or Cantillon's Kriek. Both gave me heartburn, but were definitely worth the minor suffering.

Allagash PNC Broken Elevator. Had it at Monk's. Tom broke it out from his stash during Philly Beer Week. Extremely mouth puckering. Very well made.

I have had love child #3 & 4, Mother Funker, and a lot of other sours and have yet to find one that I find extremely sour, then again I do like peeling lemons and eating them as if they were oranges.

Hanssens Experimental Raspberry and Aviator Funky Caveman. The former was ridiculously sour yet super tasty, and the latter was undrinkable.

I found New Belguim's Le Terrior more sour than La Folie. La Folie was a little better quality tasting brew though IMO.

Probably Deschutes Green Monster. That thing was quite puckering.

No doubt Bear Republic's Tartare. It's like sucking on a lemon.
