I have only ever had 2 sour beers, and I just took the leap a few weeks ago with a New Belgium Le Terroir, followed by a Rodenbach Grand Cru. The Le Terroir packed a MASSIVE sour punch up front - wayyy more than Rodenbach. It was shocking: I don't think I was ready for it, yet I ended up enjoying it after a few swigs.

I enjoyed the Rodenbach more; however, and thought it was more balanced and had deeper flavor complexity than the Le Terroir overall. It's hard to imagine anything more bracingly sour than that Le Terroir though, yet I'm sure they're out there.

Ultimately, I'm just happy my palate seems to agree with sours so far. My wallet on the other hand...

In my memory, a bottle of tart of darkness that I had about a year ago (so probably "2012" label) was the most sour beer I have ever tasted, but the same year, and this years bottle and draft weren't even close, so maybe I just got a bottle that fell outside the normal range.

Weyerbacher Riserva has to be in the conversation as well, although I haven't seen one in a while. It used to be everywhere, maybe there's a new bottling coming soon?

Cascade Apricot. It was the first Cascade sour I had ever had and I was sharing it with a friend who only drinks Coors lights. It might have been an '11 or '12. I will never forget his first sip. Partly because it landed on me. After having that, I almost gave up on the style. It is was too overwhelming for me then, though somehow I got it down. Instead of turning my buddy on to craft beer, he swore craft beers off for at least two years because of that experience alone.

I was going to say this or Upland Kiwi. I also had a bottle of Upland Persimmon that was insanely sour. I'm all for sour but when its straight vinegar I can't stand it.

All of the uplands I have had are pretty much straight Lacto bombs.

Unfortunately I haven't had that many. I'd have to say Very Sour Blackberry after almost a year of age.
