Sours: Help for Noobs

Some sours are much more mild than others. The only way to know is to try them. A good sour should not taste like vinegar. It should be acetic and it can have tannin qualities as well or a flavor that some describe as sherry like. Sours have very little hop qualities and are showcases for crisp malt. They are not light as a feather and usually have a medium mouthfeel that surprises some people. They have a very restrained hop bitterness in the finish that in a very good sour simply lays out on the tongue while the acidic qualities start your mouth to really water. If you pucker too then that is moderate rather than mild sour. The other quality I want to mention is that the presence of diacetyl is allowed in this beer in very minor qualitites so if you taste a little it's ok. If it disrupts the passionate fruitiness of the beer, the finish, or the flavor then it's too much.

Lol my friend last night was trying to bash me for my palate being underdeveloped for sours..... based on me saying vinegar is something I do NOT want in my sours. He asked "do you even sour". The nerve of my friends sometime

Seriously. Who does the OP think he is by asking beer-related questions on a beer website? What a dope! I can't even believe that he/she asked that question specifically for you, skunkpuddle. You're clearly a well-to-do fancy man and don't have time for the uneducated. Surely the moderators of this site should have filtered this post away from you so that you didn't have to log on to the site, click on the post, and type out your reply. Why should your time have to be wasted like this? You obviously have a very demanding job with limited time. I sincerely hope this OP, the site moderators, and the BA community will think twice about asking questions of any kind in the future.

The first sour I really liked was Duchesse de Bourgogne. Then I started trying the fruity sours based on the fruits I like. To each their own.

I have no idea what you just said, but it's all love. Everybody has said some outlandish stuff on here, so you get a pass. I just get annoyed, because, I too, need help sometimes and BA is supposed to be a site where you seek help. When people make comments, like yours, it discourages people from posting.
