I've really been getting into sours lately (FREAKING AWESOME) and I'm wondering what I can pick up in South Florida to continue on this journey. So what stuff get's distro'd here that is worth picking up, trying to find some stuff local so I don't have to kill my cellar and wallet trading for stuff, which I will probably do anyway.

    Unfortunately not much.
You can get a bunch of easy to find sours like Rodenbach Grand Cru and Petrus Blonde at Total Wine.
The Coffee District occasionally carries some rarer sours like 3F Intense Red, or Bon Chien.
Saint Somewhere you can get at TW as well, they are slightly tart. I like the Lectio Divina the best. (sp?)
Also, keep an eye out for Bruery Souts like Oude Tart, Tart of Darkness, Sour in the Rye. The Bruery makes some great sours, but expect to spend 20 bucks for a 750.

For a truly sour experience head to The Funky Buddha, make sure you go to the Lounge for the truly sour berliners.
In fact, they have a Barrel Aged Berliner on tap, well it was yesterday, but it usually lasts a day or two before it's gone.

The Oakland Park Buddha makes Berliners too but they are nowhere near as sour. The Lounge's berliners are truly something special, rivaled only by J Wakefield's berliners IMHO.

Jivex5k nailed some great points. Not sure where you are in South FL, but I would recommend taking a trip to Cigar City and picking up some of their Lacto Guava Grove. Fantastic sour and at $9 a bottle I consider it a great deal. I drove up there the last time they bottled it and just wish I would have bought more bottles. They just bottled a new batch yesterday. GG is supposed to see distro this year so you could also wait it out.

The Bruery stuff is great and I always pick it up as well but as stated they do run about $20 a bottle.

Cascade has been hitting the shelves down here, though infrequently. Same goes for Crooked Stave. Also be on the lookout for Drie Fonteinen, Tilquin, Boon Mariage Parfait, Lindemans Cuvee Rene, and (very sporadically) Cantillon.

I've seen plenty of Jolly Pumpkin around S Florida. Also keep an eye out for Tilquin Oude Gueuze.

It shows up from time to time. Last time I caught it at Total Wine Ft. Lauderdale.

I was just at TW in Pinecrest and there are plenty of sours there. Oude Tart, Rueuze, Caractere Rouge, some lambics...

10.99 a bottle at Boynton or Boca TW. I was at both today. I think it was Boynton and also that it was the Surette.

We got St. Bretta and Surette at Total Wine in Gardens as well. My reaction was the same as yours when I saw it on the shelf. Whoa Crooked Stave!

I've never seen any Crooked Stave sours at the TWs here in Miami. I tried their Origins Burgundy sour the other week courtesy of a friend and it may have been the best sour I ever had.

I happened to have it at Abraxas Lounge's closing party here in South Beach - if you were in Miami, that would be where you would go to get sours.

Now that it's closed (hopefully reopening soon!), I don't know of any bar for sours. I am trying to convince the owner of the Abbey to carry some, at least starting with Cascade and maybe some Bruery sours -- if anything I will buy them, so I say it's a win-win

TWs here have Tilquins, Timmermans and some 3F -- mostly just the oude guezes or lambics. Rodenbach's too of course. I was so happy to see they got Caracter Rouge and picked up a few bottles - my fav flanders red.

I had no idea Abraxas closed down :slight_frown: That place always had good taste in beer. Interesting note on the Rodenbach Caracter Rogue... I passed on one last night due to the price (I think $32?)

Hey I checked and could not find this. Was there some still there when you left and if yes what part of the beer section was it? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

It was probably a couple months ago and they sold out in a few days. If your familiar with Gardens Total, they were on the very bottom shelf of the section where all the new stuff gets put out. I got 2 of each and it was almost $50 with tax. Gardens is weird bc mostly they hord the rarer stuff and sell them 1 per person but these were on the shelf FFA.

Yeah that stuff is expensive but amazing, I recently traded for a bunch of Crooked Stave and it's all amazing.
I've got 3 bottles left I'm goin to hoarde.
Rouge from Rodenbach is all over Total Wine right now, but it's just as expensive at $25 for a 750.
I think Tart of Darkness from the Bruery is coming in this week or next to TW. Now that's a sour to keep an eye out for IMHO.

I bought 2 Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueze from Total in Boca. That and St. Bon Chien are the best sours you can get down here without trading for them. Also, we get a few good Bruery sours as well. Sour in the Rye and Oude Tart are both at Total Boca right now.

Beerly-Departed said no up above, TBC said it was a month ago or so.
I've never seen a mention of Crooked Stave coming here besides just now, of course I could have before I knew how good they were and let it all breeze by. My radar is definitely calibrated now though.
