"sours" isn't a style*, but shorthand for the various beers that are sour, e.g. (and most often) lambics, american wild ales, some other belgian styles. one should expect many borderline cases, since the label has most of its use when people who have tried sour beers are communicating with people who haven't (or when people who tried a few and disliked sourness in beer communicate with people who like some/all sour beers).

    * beer styles themselves aren't rigid categories either. some people seem to believe they are, but these people are patently wrong.

Not unless there was an infection.

I don't know. But recently found out sours are unexpectantly good. Brand new to this BA. Gimme a holla!

I remember it being a take on a Belgian Strong. 35% was aged in Brandy barrels, so I suppose an infection is possible?

Stay away from Russian River brews at all costs. Those are terrible.

No. It was a spicy Belgian strong ale with cardamom and cinnamon. Why would you think it was a sour?

A good rule of thumb: if you have to ask if it is a "sour", then it wasn't intended to be.
