Tonewood if you haven’t been @beertoro but I’m guessing you have since it’s been around a little while now.

You've never been to 7 Mile or Cold Spring? I feel like we've discussed before.

7 Mile is fine, but nothing special. Reminds me a little bit of Frye's - same kind of vibe, but a bit bigger, and the beer is a bit better.

Cold Spring is a really, really awesome venue. Its at the Cold Spring Historical village. Went once on a rainy, cold October day, and it was just awesome and warm and cozy. Went also on a late August day, and they've got a nice outdoor play area, but you couldn't appreciate its charm as much. Beer is very "old-fashioned", but its more about the venue than the beer for me.

Yep! Been there already. Definitely would go again.

I think we had talked about Cold Spring in the past, haven't been yet, but would be looking forward to go. I tried some 7 Mile at Maloney's two weekends ago and felt it was decent enough to warrant a visit. Just trying to plan my next trip that might do a few of those and include Glasstown and Three 3's, so something like a Saturday through Sunday.

Hidden Sands should be opening soon. Although, they just got a new brewmaster. So, not sure if that’s something of concern, as Mike LaRosa was looking promising

Tonewood for me is tops right now. Although Eight and Sand Brewing in Woodbury was pretty good. Give them a visit.

Edit: oops forgot about Three 3's . Make that Tonewood and Three 3's tops right now lol.

Tonewood, Three 3's, and Brotherton all make some great brews. Those ones aren't that new but they're definitely the better offerings SJ has right now. Kelly Green is okay and it's only 5 minutes from my house, but even with that convenience I've only gone twice since I'm not a big fan.
I would not recommend Human Village.
Human Village makes a sour ale that is absolutely horrendous. It smells so strongly of vomit, hot trash, and cheese. I thought it was some sort of one-off beer they made that they haven't perfected, but it's actually part of their normal rotation. I brought this up with the guy that was pouring the beer and he just laughed it off with the remark that "sours aren't for everybody." What's even stranger is that other people mentioned that it smells rank but still rated it highly. It must be that mentality where any local beer is considered good just for the sake of being local. Maybe they improved the beer since summertime, but I won't bother to find out.

Doh! Forgot Brotherton. lol Too many breweries now days. I will say I still havent found a porter that compares to Spellbound Palo Santo Porter or even there regularr Porter. Although Cape May King Stomp porter is really good. Just released in cans now.

Looks like I'll be doing a nice round of Ludlam, Cold Spring, Cape May, Glasstown today. And then Three 3's and Vinyl tomorrow.

You could easily add 7 Mile and Slack Tide onto todays list. Both are literally in between Ludlam and Cape May.

Might do 7 Mile. Just worried about being able to allott time to all of those in a day. My wife will be driving so it shouldn't be a problem, but we already been to Slack Tide before and probably will skip it.

Thanks for the reminder of 7 Mile just being right there though.

was kind of curious where Mike went as it didn't seem he was with Tired Hands anymore... seems they never let him do any stouts and thought that was his area/wheelhouse, hope to see him pop up somewhere and start slaying some stouts

He might have just been helping out Hidden Sands until they found a more permanent/full-time brewer in Luke Lindsey: Press Release

Perhaps similar to the Brotherton scenario. Whereby, Steven D'Eva assisted while maintaining a focus on “Foreign Objects Beer,” which launched earlier this month at Beer Noggin

In any case, maybe Mike is working on something of his own, as I’m hoping he pops up again too

Just wanted to say how good Cape May Brewing’s White Caps is. Going to be of great help dealing with the in-laws over the next couple of days!

Possible he was hired to just create recipes for them? Do people do that?

His Linkedin profile doesn't list Hidden Sands as a employer and shows that after leaving Tired Hands in Jan. '17 he set up his own firm, MJL Brewery Consulting.

Ya. He must be bouncing around honing his skill set

Regardless, still anticipating Hidden Sands official launch: hopefully soon
