Well, I offered a 375 Blabaer and got crickets, so I guess this is one I am going to have to miss out on. Too bad, sounds like it is something special.

Yeah, that should have got it done. But this thread is not helping your cause nor mine for Peconic.

i've learned that offers like that make trades happen because you really make a deal that is so good and hard to pass up that you convince people who didn't plan to trade it at all to actually trade for it. reading your list makes me think about trading my last bottle since that is not only quantity, but quality and a lot of beers that are delicious.

should have got it done...? why? BRL is a better beer, bigger bottle, and harder to come by.

Blabaer has way more hype behind it, and we all know taste has nothing to do when trading whales. Plus, Blabaer has to be moved across the pond at some point.

SHBRL is rated a 4.48 and Blabaer is a 4.59 FWIW. I would say objectively the community would say Blabaer is better, but obviously taste is subjective and since I likely will never drink SHBRL it's basically irrelevant to me at this point.

For what it's worth, you may just be running into a Venn diagram issue. BRL is disproportionately clustered in and around NYC, which just saw a bar open that will sell Blabaer with some regularity. I'm much less likely to trade for Blabaer than bottles of similar caliber at this point.

I know there was a 'working' tap/bottle list for this bar which listed Blabaer, but why do you think it will be there with any regularity?

Well so far it hasn't been held back if asked for by basically anyone. Also, you're not getting peconic because you are offering relatively easy to get cantillons. I've traded peconic a few times before and even a year ago I wouldn't have even considered what you're offering.

Well, I know I'm not offering one-offs, but I didn't know Lou Pepes, St. Lam, and Mamouche were the "easy to get cantillons."

Also, I landed SH BRL last month with Fou Foune + T25 + BBmonster29 3:1. I'm offering more for Peconic. I know Peconic had a slightly lower bottle count, but it shouldn't be THAT much harder to land than BRL.

It's also a year older if I remember correctly. As a further matter, it's probably worth pointing out that I got crickets on an offer of Ann straight up for Peconic a few months ago.

I think the other issue is that Peconic was a 1 bottle/person limit, while BRL was 2. Still though, I feel like Peconic's value has shot up in the last year or so, as I don't remember any real action for it on ISO/FT for a while after it was released.

Correct - it was a 1 bottle limit but there wasn't a ton of people at the release so most people went through the line a second time. Same thing with BRL. As far as bottle counts, I believe the bottle count for Peconic was around 200 - maybe less, BRL was around 360 I believe

I have had both and I personally thought that BRL was superior to Blabaer. Reviews on BRL are tough to gauge since there was such limited exposure to a one time beer. Blabaer has multiple releases with wider exposure and still obtainable.

from what i hear, it will be a WHILE before they run out of Blabaer.

Many more peconics have been consumed vs BRLs (it was released a year earlier and also had lower bottle count). if anyone has a peconic they want to trade, hit me up...i'll swap you a BRL +++ for it.

anecdotally, i know of many BRL bottles floating around locally...peconic on the other hand, i only know of a few.

the other thing about peconic is that it had a sticker on it to not open it for a few months since it hadn't carbbed yet. this scared many people away and also encouraged many people to not chance getting multiple bottles. i know people who passed on it entirely after the release.

also, it traded pretty hotly right out of the gate. i went 1 for 1 with a 2011 kate winning ticket and that was at 2011 kate's peak.

Peconic is one of the best beers out there period. Simply awesome and priceless. I'd much rather go after the Peconic than BRL.

BRL is an excellent fruit lambic that I'd happily trade for again, but Peconic is probably the best saison I've ever tasted. My knees get weak thinking about how good Peconic is; the same isn't true when it comes to BRL.
