Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere... Was wondering if anyone had heard any news or even a little tidbit of information on when the next release of this may occur. I've searched both Southampton's website and everywhere else I could think of. Just curios. One of the more enjoyable stouts out there in my opinion. Looking forward to having the opportunity to enjoy it again.
This is usually released towards the end of January. However, since Phil Markowski, the brewer, recently left SH, its unclear whether or not they'll be doing this release again this year. Also, totally agree that this is one of the better non-BA stouts out there. I still don't get why it doesn't get any respect.
It is (was) also one of the more enjoyable limited bottle releases out there albeit the cold weather. Noone went home empty handed.
I was told in August that this was going to happen. In previous years, I would receive the details from them and post here sometime in December, and that was prior to them posting on their website. Either way, we won't know for months yet...
i love this release...the past two years have been cold, but definitely not unbearable. the other beers that come along with it are always an exciting surprise too (see black raspberry lambic and peconic county reserve).
I was particularly excited because I was told that this typically happens the last weekend of January. My birtyday is the last weekend in January...so this would be quite the present for my 35th.
In 2010, I promised myself that the southampton RIS release would be the one event that I go to every year. With Phil moving on to another opportunity, I dont know if im gonna keep the tradition going. The mystery behind what special beers were also going to be released was a big part of why i went. I always had my fingers crossed that we would see another crazy creative saison or the return of the normal berliner. I dont want to discredit Evan (he took over the reigns right?) but surely noone can fill the void left by Phil. Bahhh who am i kidding? I'll be there. Looking forward to freezing my nuts off and seeing whats new.
