damn....can't you all just keep quiet? this thing has flown under the radar and now your gonna blow it...

as for when to show up...historically SH is a mellow release and you don't have to sleep out all night for it, but surely some will. i've made the mistake and gone in the wee hours of the morning before and sat outside freezing with another 5 or 10 nut jobs for a few hours until the line really starts kicking...about an hour before the release. i'd be hard pressed to think that 140 people will be in line at 9am, but who knows? historically, no one who shows up at release time has ever been shut out of getting beer, so you might miss on the double ice bock (i doubt it though)...but you certainly won't miss out on getting beer if you are there by 11a. granted the beer community has grown and changed, but SH's last few releases were after the craft beer boom and even the limited stuff didn't sell out and some people were able to get multiples. i think a big detractor aside from the winter weather is that the brewery is about 2 hours east from the city so it is a turn-off to out of staters (it is a pain in the butt for me to get out there and i live mid LI), plus the beers typically don't seem to command any trade power (aside from the few that people know about). if you are coming for trade value, skip it...for some reason aside from a few beers in their lineup, the outside world doesn't seem to care about SH brews, so don't expect to hit the trade forums looking for the latest barrel aged what haveyou

Anxiously awaiting the person who breaks the ISO/FT forum wide open with a thread along the lines of FT: 1 partially drank and re-capped double ice bock ISO: 3x DB hunahpu

Pretty bummed I cant make this release. I would have been among the first 5 people in line and inebriated by 7 am with frostbite.

Based off of this, maybe we'll get another peconic county and/or black raspberry lambic in the future.

Tad darnit, my co-pilot just got sick and I'm not sure I feel like making the trip from the Poconos solo.... Decisions... FWIW, I wasn't coming out for trade bait, but just to try some good beers that I haven't had the opportunity yet to try.

dont take offense to this Evan but im just posting an honest opinion here

i applaud your effort in trying to down-play this release. regardless of how much you might want to deter people from showing up too early, every release gets more and more crazy. (i hope im wrong about this but its just the way things are going across the board with this hobby.)

i believe the year that fellow was in line around midnight was because that was the only time he could get there with the means of transportation he took. the only reason he was sitting alone by the door was because the rest of us were in/around our vehicles bullshitting and sharing beers. the year after that, we got there closer to 6 a.m. and the entire "porch" area was filled with people

im not trying to cause pandemonium for those attending, i just think its silly to assume this wont be well attended. there are many people traveling 4+ hours one-way for this release, im willing to wager a bet they arnt risking missing out on the double ice bock by not showing up several hours before the 9 am ticket hand out time

Aargh. Might have to skip out on this one. No homies to ride with, and not in the mood for a solo trip this time. Enjoy the brews! See you suckers in '15.

Anything on the sheet that was not mentioned on the release info?
I'm going tomorrow for brunch, hoping they have a couple things left on tap. First release I missed in years

Rather disappointed in how things went this morning, despite getting what I went for; very nice to see a lot of people who showed up at 6am receive their tickets after those who casually strolled by at 9am; even nicer to get stuck behind people with tickets 84, 85 and 93 to pay, while our group held 17-26.

I hope none of this barbarism/bullshit occurs next year.

good news, everyone got beer...in fact most got doubles if they wanted them. sadly i lost my tickets and was lucky enough to have 1 returned by the publick house staff since i conveniently left mine on the bar after filling them out and heading out for bfast. sadly, i only got 1 ticket back (since those were the "rules") and was one of the few only able to score a single alottment...but my own fault and happy to not get nailed and lose out on both tickets. getting extra russian or scotch was no sweat. most folks seemed to pass on the scotch...maybe it is just me, but i enjoy the scotch more than the russian by a LONG shot. was amazing on tap as well. SO good. oh well, more for me i guess? i would think that russian and scotch bottles will be available long after today, but the 5 or 6 double ice bocks that were not bought from tickets seem to have evaporated and were not made available to those at the release. what their fate might be...? probably to the staff or something?

but if you are looking to go later today or this week, give a call, i would be surprised if you couldn't get bottles of each.
