Also was just in Nashville and really enjoyed SG... As mentioned above, Boil the Ocean was phenomenal. They had some pretty solid stuff overall (preferred Bearded Iris for IPA's, but their downfall is that is all they had on tap). Southern Grist was a bit more well rounded and we enjoyed both locations!

Which location should I go to if I have to pick one? Going this Saturday and might have dogs in tow (bonus points for patio).

Go to the Nations location, there is a full patio.

I am driving down from Philly on 9/28. I want to hit Southern Grist and Bearded Iris to get cans to Bri g back home. Do both locations have cans?

Which place is easier to get to. Will be coming down I81 to I 40 West and staying at Hilton Garden inn Vanderbilt.

Are there any other breweries I should check out on the way down?

You'll be a little less than 10 min from the Nations taproom for Southern Grist, and 15 - 20 from the original space in East Nashville. Cans are sold at both.

Agreed, the character of the original location is far superior vs. the sterile environment that is the Nations taproom. That said, I live much closer to the Nations and the much larger taproom and patio are significant pluses vs. the OG.

What is the tax rate on the beers in your fine state? Trying to figure out how much money I am going to spend before I check into my hotel room in 2 weeks!

Its like 9.75 i think, so just round up to 10 percent . Bearded Iris prices include tax, grist does not do that. Its usually better to buy the beers at the breweries themselves, but you will see some shops around town might be a buck cheaper sometimes .

I prefer Nations taproom. It is larger and the food is excellent. You can't go wrong with either location.

Pumped for the anniversary party this weekend. Last year was a blast.

Also, I'm really digging Winter Sweet Tooth.

Hello all, we FINALLY started getting some canned SG here in Maryville Tn. Just outside of Knoxville. Tried the Mixed Greens recently and it was very good. I'mean looking forward to trying more.
Also if I could find a trade partner there who would be willing to trade for Knoxville locals that would be awesome. We have Crafty Bastard, Abridge brewery, Pretentious brewery, and a bunch of others. Knox ale trails list them all. Cheers !!!!!

Nice, the wife is from Maryville and I'm there about 10 times a year. Southern Grist is hands down my favorite brewery in TN and I do love me some Abridged. It's good to see Maryville has a decent brewery now, I can head to Round 6 if I can't stray too far from the inlaws.

To add to the rest of this thread, I'm a huge fan of their Hill series beers. The more words in the name the better. The 3rd Anniversary was awesome as expected and they really have a great set of owners and bartenders.

Yes Round6 is nice. They have alot of their own brews on tap now. Galaxy Jesus is really nice from them right now. The Southern Grist is usually at Casual pint or the package store in front of Harbor freight. All close to Round6. Also the bar keep at Round6 said they are in the works to start canning

Going to be in Nashville this weekend. Do I need to be at SG at opening to get cans being released or should be fine heading in that afternoon or Sunday? TIA

Cans released typically stay available for a couple weeks if not longer, at this point, with very rare exceptions. You should be fine.

I do all of my beer trades on Facebook, and I'm really interested in some SG, but i can't find a group that seems relevant to SG, Nashville, Tennessee. Does this exist or am i better off trying to trade through beer advocate?
