I didn't like it, but I don't like much from SS so I wasn't surprised. Also I'm not a huge fan of smoked beers. Hope you enjoy it though.

I grabbed one last week and had it over the weekend. Wish I would have saved it to drink with BBQ or steak, but liked it enough that I'll go pick up another.

We currently have that on tap. Very good stuff. It's like drinking barbecue.

I am generally a fan of smoked beer, but not overpowering smoke. Aecht Schlenkerla is what originally drew me in. I've had the Thirsty Planet Frankling BBQ and a few others. I'll have to pick up some BBQ and give this one a try.

Thats funny, i'm the opposite of you. I like quite a few of SS beers, but not big on SA.

As far as SS Rauchbier. The 2nd batch they did was not as smoky as the first batch. They had alot of ppl complain about the first batch being too smoky, so they toned it down. I had the first batch at the brewery and i'd agree, I didnt like it. But I tasted the 2nd batch 2 weeks ago and its much better.

Ah shit. I gonna need to go ahead and grab some. I f ing love me some smoked beer!!! Haven't had a beer that was too smokey yet. I'm sure this isn't overpoweringly smokey but I'd like to try it.

Ha, that first batch was made about 5 years ago, maybe more... Definitely not the pork soda it once was. It just depends on what you like, balance or no balance.

I liked the rauchbier, but it could have been smokier for my tastes.

Can't wait to get Schlenkerla in TX.

I meant first batch for the seasonal this year.... not the first ever.

We have or used to have Schlenkerla in DFW. I know I've bought locally it in the past.

Haven't tried the SS Rauchbier yet but I haven't seen it for sale up here yet. I like smoked beers. I was one of the few who apparently liked JK's Gotslandstrika.

I thought it was pretty good but not smokey enough. But I guess I compare all of my smoke beers to Surly smoke or Schlenkerla

It's definitely in DFW. IIRC, the OP is in Dallas and I've seen it at the usual places over the past few weeks.
