Looks like back burner is back (thank you STBC). Higher abv at 10.5% and in 4 packs.

This is great news, one of my favorite american style barleywines. Doesnt look like its oak aged like the previous release.

Awesome! I love ST Back Burner ! I miss a lot of these beers in large format bottles though... just my opinion of course. .

I'm nearly certain this beer didn't contain molasses or maple syrup before.

Very cool that they're putting this in 4-packs. Sounds like a great candidate for cellaring.

Oak Aged was a separate run, seasonal like the regular but on a different schedule. Barrel Aged was a draft only beer, and only in NY from what I've seen.

And yes, it did not have maple or molasses before, that's a new addition that I'm anxious to try.

Agree. Looks odd in a 12 oz. Loved this beer though and really look forward to killing a few real soon!

We've had a sixtel of Back Burner sitting in the cooler at the liquor store I work at for a couple of years, think it aged well?

Interesting, didnt realize that. I wonder if it will lean more english style or "in the middle" than straight up american style. I remember basically not being able to age off the hops previously, it was like old ruffian in that way for me.

STYLE: Imperial Barley Wine Style Ale :astonished::confused:

If anything, they should mention if it's American or English Barleywine.

It's always been more American in style, but not overly hoppy, one year on it was perfect for a hop hater like me. I liken it to a tamer Old Ruffian, and nothing like the imperial IPA style like Bigfoot, Hog Heaven, or Old Gaurdian. The Oak Aged version was even more balanced, great fresh or with time. The adjuncts, if added to the existing recipe, will help push it farther away from the hop side. That's perfect in my book.

It's American Style, but as RDMII mentioned, it'll never be overly hoppy. Looking forward to getting this to you guys. Cheers!

I really liked Oak-Aged Back Burner. You should put it in 4-pack format too. Will have to give this one a try!
