It kills me how retailers leave old seasonals on the shelf well after their season has passed. Granted many holiday and high abv pumpkin beers are bullet proof, at least box em up and put them in the cooler . And bust them out again during their respective season. Maybe an upcharge for a "vintage". In the process the retailer would free up a slot for an item that would sell. Dumb move by retailers in my opinion.

I think part of the problem is its not like most stores have this giant endless backroom of storage to work with. And if you're going to stash something, stashing old pumpkin ales is probably not the best use of the space.

I don't mind it to a point. I don't even like to think about buying Pumpkin ales until September, and for me they are really made for October/November - that cold Halloween/Thanksgiving time, where, you know, pumpkins are everywhere. Unfortunately by November all of the winter seasonals are already in full effect, so its nice to still be able to grab some pumpkin beers. But yeah, by the time winter is rolling along in January, it's probably time to dump the fall seasonals.

I haven't spotted any in CT yet. I think I'll stock up early so that I can enjoy them when the cooler weather hits.

The start of Pumking season is bittersweet for me. It's like the old Back to School tv ads, finally calling that summer will be over soon. A sad time. BUT... Pumking is just an awesome beer and my official beer of all Patriot games. I'll be grabbing a case soon.
Having said that, I will not be drinking any in August.

I'm actually looking forward to the end of summer as I can't stand the humidity, but I'm with you on the pumpkin ales. I can't bring myself to drink one before the first day of Fall. Go Pats!

Marlboro Wine & Spirits Co. received several cases of Pumking yesterday.

I've been searching for a thread topic on this subject as I want some answers to why breweries release their seasonals earlier each passing year. I imagine one reason is for marketing purposes and another is competition. Kind of like department stores putting holiday candy/decorations out earlier each year to beat out their competitors. Any other thoughts?

I can't believe the love that this disgusting beer gets. :grimacing:

Tastes like it's brewed with pumpkin candy cough syrup.

Now you're really asking for too much if you're looking for Oak-Aged Pumking (lol). I think we got about 3 bottles of Oak Aged Unearthly earlier this year. Somethings gotta be up with the distribution of ST in this state. We used to get ample supplies of just about everthything they brew. that seems to be a thing of the past.

NY places have Pumking by the case and/or keg.

I thought the 12 pack was kind of a ripoff, so it didn't bother me that CT didn't get it.

And again, just venture down to NY Jim! You're not that for for Oak Aged Pumking! DeCicco's had like 8 kegs! Was on forever!

On tap right now at eli cannons. Only a few bottles for Manchester . Jimmy gave me two. Claimed "new markets" are causing the limited supply in Hartford County. That's a first.
