    Hey gang,
I'm going to be in Rockford, IL (from South Carolina) for a day for a funeral. If I wanted to try and grab some NG lambic bottles, and drove north to the WI border, is there a place relatively close to Rockford where I could find some NG bottles? Like maybe in Beloit? Thanks.

As soon as you cross the border every gas station, grocery store, and liquor store will have New Glarus. If you're looking for the biggest selection stop at either the Woodmans in Janesville or Beloit.

If you're referring to the fruit beers you could easily find those at any grocery store. Woodmans in Beloit would be a good option. Everett's in South Beloit Illinois would be worth a stop too.

Just for the record, New Glarus's fruit beers are decidedly not lambics in any sense (especially since Belgians would argue that nothing made outside of the designated area can be considered lambic, sort of like Champagne). They're really not even sour. They are fruit beers and come across more as dessert beers/wines than lambics. Do not go into them thinking that they're wilds/lambics/even saisons or you will be disappointed.

If you want a sour from them, they should still have NG Thumbprint Oud Bruin 2016, which is awesome this time around.

Serendipity is more sour than Oud Bruin, IMO. Are they still making Serendipity though?

Yes they are still making Serendipity. Strawberry Rhubarb is the one that they said they won't be making for the foreseeable future.

Raspberry Tart will probably be the most "sour" of the three available. Raspberry is fairly acidic by nature, and these fruit beers are pretty much liquefied fruit in beer form. Pretty amazing they can cram all that flavor into a $10 bottle. But yeah, not lambics and don't expect to pucker up when you drink them.

If you want something from WI more on the sour side, check out O'so Infectious Groove. It's a really nice lacto sour and very inexpensive. Their peach and cranberry sours might still be lingering around too.

I'm coming up to Chicago for work in a few weeks and this is helpful info. Thank you. Would these be the locations closest to Chicago/Schaumburg that have New Glarus fruit beers? Definitely want to pick up some but hoping to not have to drive further than necessary.

+1 for Everetts. Badger spirits in Beloit is also worth checking out.

Woodmans Kenosha is prolly your best bet from Schaumburg

From Schaumburg you'll want to go to Kenosha, but it will still be an hour plus drive each way. The two main places in Kenosha would be Woodman's grocery store or the Mars Cheese Castle. Woodman's has a good selection and much better pricing (I just made a run on Monday - $9.99 for the large bottles vs $14.99 at Mars). Mars has a huge display with everything currently available, right down to the multi bottle samplers.

My plan is always to stop at Woodman's first, go to Mars to see if there's anything I want that Woodman's didn't have, and then go next door to The Bobby Nelson Cheese Shop to get cheese or sausage.
