Bummer. Solid spot for a couple beers before a show at the Wiltern, especially when Beer Belly closed up the street. Place was always a god size crowd when I was in there too. I get the fact that you don't want to sign another lease, and it's probably because rent costs are soaring right now comparative to years prior, but post pandemic on premise has actually been doing better than expected. A few new beer-centric bars have opened in SD over the last 6-12 months and are doing just fine. Might be a different market, but I know my old distributor in LA is doing just fine with on premise beer sales.
Dropped by on the final Friday, a fun time was had. Huge bummer to see it go. I've been regularly going to Southland since I moved to K-Town in 2017. Based on some overheard conversations, it sounds like the landlord is going to try to rent the spot out to another bar once everything is fully gone — of course it won't be the same. Don't know where I'll go now in the neighborhood for some good beer. I guess there's Love Hour, but the vibes there are very much not what I want when drinking.
