I'm by no means an expert brewer, and not exactly looking for a precise recipe. I thought it was interesting that no one has yet to clone this beer on any forum online (so it seems). It's absolutely one of my FFF favorites. I would be interested to know what ingredients, particularly hops, that go into this brew.

From sort of a deductive tasting, I'm guessing definitely juiciness of Citra and the floral boquet Amarillo, Cascade as well, possibly some resinous Warrior (as they feature it in flavor and aroma in Alpha King).

Anyone ever try to clone this before?

My guess is the beer just hasn't been around long enough for someone to attempt it.

Someone else may be able to weigh in with a 'guess' on how it's made though. Have you tried contacting anyone at 3f on recipe hints? sometimes breweries won't give specifics, but they'll at least tell you what's in it. It'd be a start.

I agree. And also I believe they source hops from a very specific location, which they keep close to their vest (as told by a good friend who encountered one of their brewing associates at a bar in Chicago).. Which leads me to believe how most of their flagships are very juicy, near candy-like. Galaxy sounds about right. But it seems their trademark taste is all about location, location, location...of their ingredients. Much like wine, soil, climate, weather, all has a dramatic impact on hops.

I've been told (when I was at the brewpub, but it wasn't a Brewer - just a bartender, so take that for what it's worth) that it is the same malt bill as zombie dust (pretty much all 2-row with a bit of Munich, a bit of crystal 60, and a bit of melanoidin malt) but they use simcoe instead of citra. I have not tried to brew that recipe but I have tried a 50/50 split of citra and simcoe with that grain bill and it turned out great. I would think you could probably get pretty close by starting from there. Let us know how it turns out if you decide to brew it.
