    Hello,

My wife and I are going to be traveling through Spain from September 29th - October 12th. We land in Madrid for a few days then we go to Seville, Malaga, Granada, Valencia and finally Barcelona. Any advice or suggestions for good beer/restaurants/tapas would be greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to exploring this beautiful country.

    Thanks

Regards Seville/tapas - just get lost (very easy to do) in the evening around the medieval streets and stop at every bar that takes your fancy. One of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. Also recommended for great value is 'Taberna Los Coloniales' (there are two). They are usual absolutely packed but worth the wait - the queue moves quicker than expected!

There are a few other threads in here worth checking out, in Seville and Malaga there is little that is worth the time when there is so much else to do. I put a few comments about Madrid in a recent thread.

In Valencia there is a brewpub called Portland Ale House (owned by an American). Wednesday nights they have English nights with a language exchange for language students. English speakers get free beer/food in return for speaking English and a great way to meet some fantastic people and something a bit different from the usual tourist stuff.

Granada is famous for the quality of its free tapas. Order a drink and you usually certain to receive a free tapas. Depending on where you go 3-4 drinks is enough for a meal.

Barcelona/Catalonia is home to the best beer in Spain and definitely the time to focus on it, Google is your friend here.

A final tip is that to eat like a true Spaniard take advantage of the lunch time 'Menu del dia" - usually a three course meal with drinks between €5-15 (depending on quality) and then go for tapas in the evening.

    Enjoy!
