My girlfriend and I are most likely going to be moving to spartansburg to the location of her medical school at the end of the summer. How is the craft beer scene? I know Asheville is semi close as I have a brother there. Any bottleshops or beer bars in the area? Also if you're a local BA, make sure to let me know!
    Cheers,
    Drew

Drew...I'm not a "local" to Spartanburg (did graduate USC Upstate though) as I live about 60 miles SW in Greenwood SC. Not real familiar with beer bars but RJ Rocker brews there. They produce pretty good stuff, not world class, but pretty good for hot SC summer days. They are beginning to ship well outside the SE market. Thomas Creek in Greenville fits this same criteria.
I'll start to follow you on BA if you don't mind. I would like to get a group of followers in the upstate of SC so I can get a feel of where to go and what to do when I make a road trip to Greenville/Spartanburg. You can follow me as well if you like. A couple of my friends to follow are: bendukes86 & LibrariansLoveBEER (happens to be my wonderful sister in Charleston SC...home of a wonderful craft beer scene BTW)

John, I appreciate your feedback. Rj rockers was all I could find by doing a google search. If there is an upstate tasting group I would also be interested. Does anyone have ideas of local bottle shops?

    Thanks again!
    Drew

The craft beer scene is a good bit better in Greenville than it is in Spartanburg. Greenville is about a 30 min drive from Spartanburg. There are a lot of good bars with craft beer in Greenville (Barley's and Trappe Door to name a few). There are also some good bottle/growler shops; Greenville Beer Exchange (sister store to Charleston Beer Exchange), The Community Tap, Greenville Growler Station, What's On Tap, Crafted (in Simpsonville), and even Green's and Total Wine aren't too bad.
