Following my local beer bars and bottle shops on twitter. That and random chance.

Local Facebook groups are extremely useful especially when they have distributers and brewery reps in them that provide release information. Also the locals that provide release locations and allotments

I'm not on any Social Media although my girlfriend watches a couple of local places (bottle shops and bars). We hear about some from that although most of my intel comes from this site and brewers websites. I keep watch on a few Internet beer sites as well. Mostly it comes from knowing what I want and searching for when in general it's released and then watching the sources I mentioned for when they appear.

Your best bets are (in no particular order):

    A) Chase beer distributor trucks and be labeled as a "Truck Chaser"
    B) Frequent a beer store that gets uber-whalez-brah as much as possible and befriend the owner/staff
    C) Keep a close group of friends, usually a tasting group, that look out for each other and let you know when stuff drops
    D) Follow the breweries on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, hotornot.com (errrr.... wait) for tips on when stuff releases
    E) Get a job in the beer industry
    F) Screw it... there is plenty of great beer besides special releases! (Though I too like to feel special occasionally, so this is hard.... but so is life sometimes!)

I learn about most stuff right here on BA, mostly in my regional forum (about 75% of the beer folks talk about on the general Beer Talk forum is irrelevant to me). I also get a weekly email from one of my favorite bottle shops that lists everything that came in that week. And I check twitter whenever I think of it, which is like every 8 days or so. For me, twitter is pretty useless for this purpose as there's just a lot of crap you have to weed through to find a useful piece of information.

Oh. The other thing you should probably do is quit your job or school or whatever it is that's occupying your time during the day. The only reason I miss any particular release is because the rest of my life seems to take up so much of my time.

I constantly go to the craft beer store and talk to the owner, they let me know.

I talk to the beer guys at the stores and try to visit these stores once a week.

Like anything else in life...make enough contacts...emails, lists, friends, enemies, FB, local beer stores...don't try to hurry things...it'll come in time.

My best advice is that your bottle shop loves a familiar face.

Me too. Some are on Instagram. But, I find personal contacts help immensely.

My main store uses Twitter and Facebook; I see stuff here on BA; and I'm stopping in the store(s) weekly, and talking to the managers about what they know is coming in.
