A local bottle shop just brought this beers (only 1 bottle of each) and I was wondering which were the average prices for them. I want to know if they are severely overpriced or not due to hype, considering I'm in Mexico and this stuff is impossible to find here.

    • Avery Tweak $26.99
    • Dogfish Head Higher Math $24.99
    • Alchemist Heady Topper $31.99
    • GS BCBBW 2015 $30.99
    • Speakeasy 03 Vintage Ale Blend $31.99
    • Logsdon Seizoen Bretta $24.99
    • The Bruery Humulus Terreux $28.99
    • Knee Deep Simtra $22.99
I think they surely are very overpriced, but I wanted to get the correct avg. price here. Cheers.

For the handful of these available in Texas, they're about double what I would expect to pay here.

    Chicago Prices:
    • Avery Tweak - $13
    • Dogfish Head Higher Math $10
    • GS BCBS 2015 $10
    • Logsdon Seizoen Bretta $12
    • The Bruery Humulus Terreux $13
    • Knee Deep Simtra $12
We don't get all your list, but this is what I would pay up here. Seems like it is about double for you - that sucks!

I assure you this beers will sit on their shelves for a while but someone is going to buy them at those prices. Heady was the beer I was more interested in but that price is absolutely ridiculous.

Wow, double and some of them triple. They are playing with hype here, looking for the absolute local geek that won't care about the price.

Nice of them to charge $31 for that infected GI BCBBW.

I'm not surprised that they're charging that kind of money, but its easily 2-4+ times the typical cost for everything there.

I have heard of Heady being a similar price here in the states outside of Vermont since it is so sought after. Sometimes people buy it and re-sell in stores for $15-30 a can (there is a place in DC apparently). The problem with Heady is that is something someone has bought and shipped from Vermont. Since they don't date their cans (at least none I have ever had were dated) there isn't really a good way to know if it is fresh, or 6 months old.

That's the Barleywine right? They seem to think that is the regular BCBS.

How much is a 6 pack of something basic like Sierra Nevada pale ale? I often get that for $8-9 a 6-er, and never see it for more than $10, so perhaps that might help with the comparison. I have heard Mexico pays a lot for imported craft beer anyway.

$8-$10 is the norm for many SN products, so that sounds about right.

It is my favorite BCBS for years - I am hoarding every bottle I can get my hands on! :grinning: I am very attuned to that bottle with a purple label at the moment:stuck_out_tongue:

you are getting extremely ripped off lol. I pay 10$ for a can of heady in NY when it comes here and that is even high.

$31.99 for a can of Heady? Never in a million years would I purchase it for that price even if it was the last beer on earth. You don't even know if that beer is 2 years old either since they are not dated. I hazard a guess and think that none of those beers were procured by the store using normal distribution channels so it's essentially secondary market - priced accordingly.

I live in the border with California, surely import craft beer deeper south into Mexico is much more expensive.

Over here we get stuff from Sierra Nevada, Stone, Green Flash, North Coast and Coronado, they are always on the shelves. Craft beer in general over here is not sold on packs, all is sold in single 12 oz bottles. Avg. price here in dollars (considering today's mexican peso / US dollar exchange rate) for them is:
    • Stone: $2.4
    • Sierra Nevada: $2.5 - $3.4
    • Green Flash: $2.5 - $4.2
    • North Coast: $2 - $3.4
    • Coronado: $2.2 - $5
Avg. price for a common mexican local craft beer 12 oz bottle is $2.
