Sorry buddy, from my cold dead fingers! I am having it written into my will that if I die tomorrow they get cracked at my funeral - first 2 ounces poured on my grave, and the rest for the wake!:stuck_out_tongue:

I'm sure of that. I don't know where they got them in the US, but they surely didn't legally brought them here, they hid them in the trunk on their way back to Mexico. And they still charge that much for them.

Based on those prices, it looks like you are already paying 50% more for craft beers - so yeah, you are getting ripped off, but not as much as it first appears, since all craft beer is really expensive...

Yeah, you're better off scheduling a beercation in the States if possible. Enjoy the travel while enjoying fresh beer. It's a shame that good beer cannot be shared universally at fair prices but greed is what it is.

Well, it is a 3,000 mile drive to Vermont for you, or you can try and find a buddy in Vermont who is willing to mail it across the border...

$30 is pretty brutal, but if someone drove a few cases from Vermont to Chicago I would expect to see them selling for $15 a can. Someone has gone to all the effort of getting it too you (gas money, time, effort). I would just question the freshness.

I would assume there is probably some sort of "import tax" inflating the price as well. Or maybe one can just throw illegal goods on the shelf.

You will find there is no 'average' price in the US - prices will vary GREATLY, from state to state and even more inside bigger states as well....the US is a large country!

Suffice it to say, these prices you quoted are crazy high and "let the buyer beware"!

I understand all of what had to be done to bring a can of Heady all the way up here. But still, $30 for a can is not worth it, I'd consider paying $15.

Absolutely, but not enough to justify this prices. The store is at least doubling the price out of nothing.

Correct, I should have asked for the avg. price IN THE STATE FROM WHERE EACH BEER IS FROM.

Agreed. How far are you from the border? If San Diego is close there is an awful lot of good beer to be had... Does customs let you bring beer back with you if you go on a road trip for the weekend?

Not to hijack the thread, but I've seen references to BCBS on the site before. I did a site search on here, and came up empty. What (besides my insurance carrier) is BCBS?

yeah the biggest factor here is that heady topper is never dated. It's one of the beers everyone should try, however you have to have the guarantee it's fresh to pay a premium

True... If it was canned yesterday and someone handed me a cold one right now for $30... man, I think that is probably happening... I would have to shut my office door though - can't have everyone watching me drink at work!

I can touch the border, my city runs along the wall. San Diego is a 3 hour drive from here (plus an avg. of 40 minutes of wait time to cross the border).

That's not always a great indicator either... Maui Brewing is cheaper in Texas than it was in Maui, and Founders is just as - if not more - expensive in Michigan as it is here too.

Ok, my point is I just wanted to know the base price for them. I know I can't expect to buy Heady for $5 in California. I just wanted to compare the price given here.

Although the prices are ridiculous, I'm impressed that those beers make it to Mexico. I'm in Kansas and only get the Avery Tweak through local distribution.
