I decided against buying the bottles and had some stuff to do so I showed up around 5:15. I asked about bottles and they had 5 allotments left, which I of course took as a sign because I am a weak, weak man.

By the time I took them back to the car and came back in and settled on a first beer looked like they had just sold the last one.

Looked like a lot of the beers I'd wanted to try had already kicked so I just had a Mayan cocoa which was *excellent* , and a Coconut Imperial which was a damn good stout but I unfortunately didn't get any coconut flavor or aroma at all. Oh and the gruit was outstanding. Went down very easy, could have handled a pint pour of that no problem.

I didn't stay long and was probably not there at peak but it was a really nice event. Lots of people but tons of room and well organized. Would have liked to have seen some glassware or something, but oh well.

Went here yesterday... liked a lot of the offerings, not love.

But Major Nelson and Living the Dream are two winners, for me. I wish Major Nelson was a main offering for them, but I'm pretty sure it's expensive to brew.

So Spellbound added 2 nitro taps. I figured it would be perfect for Palo Santo and Porter. What do they put on nitro? IPA and Belgian triple..uggh,

I saw that Martin's Liquor in Moorestown said they got some cans of Peach IPA in yesterday. Does anyone know what the distribution plan for this beer was/is?

    Spellbound jumping on the bandwagon...

"We are finally on board with the haze craze and decided to try our own NE style double IPA. All the key buzzwords like juicy (although no juice in it), hazy, hop bomb...."

Nice to see them expanding the menu a bit. I stopped going here because of menu fatigue. Everything has pretty much been the same (or, a slight variation of the same) for the past year now.

I'll stand by it. Their porter and Palo santo porter are probably my favorite by a long shot.

I stopped in for the first time last weekend on my way down to Delaware. Tried 8 beers in two different flights. My favorite from each flight was the Major Nelson pale ale and Pali Santo Porter. Lots of fruited pales and ipas when I went. I didn't like the oatmeal raisin Amber or the Belgian cherry tripel at all.

I think they make it perfectly clear that this is a not a NEIPA. Haze bros. will be disappointed...

“clear” in this sense is not necessarily referring to transparency of product, but rather of ingredient (e.g. clear of juice, puree, flour…)

I am not really familiar with many NEIPA that contain any of those things. Tired Hands Milkshakes have them but those are not NEIPA. I bet this is just an unfiltered beer...

Magnify just released two IPA’s conditioned on fruit. I have not been to Magnify in ages, and have nothing against them nor this approach, just using this as a “State Reference.” Barrier and Grimm have a release this weekend utilizing fruit

Precisely - Spellbound is just stating their approach clearly, as some get their hazy character from flour without disclosure

Milkshakes are a different category of IPA, which welcome flour (i.e. fit for the category)

No activity on this thread in a while. Grabbed a 4-pack of Major Nelson at Joe Canals in Lawrenceville yesterday.

First of all, it's incredibly refreshing to see beer priced at $7.49. I know it's 4/12 oz, but that's still really cool.

Secondly, I've got to say that this is a nice beer. I guess the cans are about a month old based on the release back in early August, but they're drinking nicely. A brighter nose would be nice, but great mouthfeel and great Nelson character on the palate.

I tend to avoid Spellbound's hoppy stuff in cans, because their date labeling is terrible, but if I can pick up things like this with pretty solid expectation of freshness, I'm going to do just that.

Their dating is based on the day of the year it was canned. So if the white label on the top of the 6pk holder says 12317 for example, then it was canned on the 123rd day of 2017. A quick Google search while you're in the store would tell you it was canned on May 3, 2017.
