Spiteful and 18th Street should get together and collaborate on a festival....$200 gets you 5 tote bags, 1 bottle of a collaborative barrel aged RIS, 2 insulated wineskins for beer, and all you can drink barrel aged stouts while the festival lasts from 1:00pm-1:15pm....

I understand exactly what I'm paying for. My point is other breweries don't make people pay for convenience, so going forward, I'm going to make sure I spend my money on beer from those breweries.

If you actually read through the thread, you'd know that I bought a ticket to get a bottle of BAMCC for my wedding.

And BA Pigeon Porter is NOT an excellent barrel aged beer. The reason they're forcing people to buy 2 for each BAMCC is because BA Pigeon Porter is shelf turd.

For $110, I don't even get a taste of BA Pigeon Porter. I get the privilege of paying for a full pour.

These guys have been canning great beer for years and are one of the smallest breweries in town. No one this small cans beer and sells it for $10/6pack. There are 360 bottles of BAMC to go around. Like last time, distro would be an epic shitshow to try to get bottles and you'd all be bitching and moaning about how you got shut out. You people are never happy. Get over it. You are getting 3 bottles of great beer without all the hassle and paying a bit of a premium.

Really? I can think of plenty of societies/clubs both locally and nationally that do exactly that.

Societies and clubs give you access to quite a bit more beer than 3 bottles. This isn't a society or club. This is a bottle release.

How they price their IPAs/beers I don't drink is irrelevant to the discussion. I didn't bitch about getting shut out from the last batch. If people truck chase, that's their prerogative. A brewery taking advantage of people chasing trucks is worse than the truck chasers themselves.

People chase the distro truck for Heady Topper EVERY SINGLE WEEK and when they open their new brewery next month, they are charging the exact same price for the beer and letting you buy a whole freakin' case. They're not doubling the price or forcing you to buy lesser beer and glassware. That's how shit should be done.

Oh, and 1 bottle of great beer and 2 bottles of mediocre beer.

How Heady Topper a beer that is produced year round is priced also irrelevant to the discussion. Lighten up dude. See you Saturday.

How is spiteful taking advantage of the truck chasers? That makes absolutely no sense. They are literally eliminating the chaser and rewarding those that truly support their business by creating a scenario in which these fans don't have to compete with chasers.

It's a model of business. You don't have to agree with it. But it's not a scam. It's not gouging. Its providing supporters of their business the opportunity to get the product without having to compete with people like you that only seek out their most hyped beers.

I sense a wee bit of entitlement from people complaining about this. Stop ripping a company you don't care for and acting insulted like they've done you wrong.

Comparing IPAs that get pumped out every few weeks to barrel aged beers that takes 6-12 months to produce is also unfair.

Sigh...@moefriedman say it ain't so man, really? You know better than to give in to these package deals to overpay (read to others who have brought it up in the thread- not gouging, just overpaying) for one "sought after/whalez brah/rar/limit one" bottle. You know too many people in the 'game' to worry about chasing these things, you'll for sure get a plug at the next tasting or whatever. Sad feels all around. :slight_frown:

I don't see how it's irrelevant. People are saying they can and should charge more due to the demand from the last release. Well, other beers are in equally high demand and the breweries choose NOT to increase the price once they realize there is a high demand for their product.

They're taking advantage of regular consumers BECAUSE of the truck chasers. Basically what you're saying is that any time people chase down a good beer, the brewery should increase the price of that beer the next time they release it. Shit, Mikerphone should charge $30/bottle for Special Sauce Batch #4!

Entitlement? No. I didn't get the beer last time and I didn't complain. I'd rip ANY brewery for handling a beer release the way they're handling it. And I just love how you're talking down to me. I've bought plenty of Spiteful beer over the years. Good on you for continuing to drink their beer when there are so many better options out there.

Maybe I should get on my hands and knees, like you, and give Spiteful a nice BJ for rewarding me with 2(!) glasses and 2 bottles of BA Pigeon Porter for $70+. Nah, no thanks.

I suppose you're okay with bottle shops forcing you to buy a lesser beer by the same brewery just to get one of their better releases too. I'd gladly pay $50 straight up for a bottle of BAMCC. Forcing me to buy 2 bottles of BA Pigeon Porter and 2(!) glasses is a joke.

I'm being completely serious here when I say that I love the manner in which threads on BA slowly spiral out of control. There seriously isn't a topic on here that doesn't end up being interesting by the second or third page. :stuck_out_tongue:

As a general comment, I'd much rather pay a premium for an event like this or make a bundled buy at a store than pay aftermarket prices or enter razzles. Better to reward those in the biz who actually have skin in the game than the ever-growing crowd of self-entitled d-bags who treat beer like Beanie Babies.

I'm looking forward to reading this on Sunday when it turns into the best festival of the year, "Man, since they had so many unsold tickets we were able to purchase up to 4 BAMCC bottles for $20 each."

See, I'm partially with you, but there's a fine line in the "bundled buy" thing that opens it up to abuse. Case in point:

When I grabbed a bottle of BAMCC from a local store, I also had to pick up a Spiteful bomber of my choice (which was fine, because I hadn't tried any of their DIPAs). However, I went to the same store desperate for a bottle of Permanent Funeral (one of my all-time favorites), and was forced to buy a second FFF bomber. That's kind of ridiculous, honestly.

So basically, I'm okay with having to shell out some extra money if it means keeping this stuff out of the hands of truck-chasers, but that sort of tactic should only be used on the really limited releases.

Thankfully, there are clearly more people in disagreeing with this price point and sale format than there are OK with it. With the amount of hype this beer has, and how great it is, there is only 1 reason this shouldn't have sold out instantly. Its just a bad deal.
