Plenty of people buying it and drinking it on premises. It is a really, really good beer. Glad I was able to get a bottle and drink another. Worth the 4 1/2 hour round trip from DC to get it

Holy hell man. DC. I only drove 1:40 each way and it seemed like a long time. But yeah got 2 bottles since I payed for my mule's beers - the 2 bottles of it we split in the tasting room. Really tasty beer. Was actually surprised it sold out so fast, but I guess with only around 700 bottles for sale to go that'll happen.

Gotta tell yah, I like this batch better than the first one. A touch more sweetness and complexity from the barrel. Lots more funk.

I missed the tweet saying they were out of bottles to go so I was a little bummed
when I arrived today and was told they were out. That sadness didn't last long however when I sat down and cracked a bottle from the bar. This is a top notch American Wild. Really good stuff. Healthy amount of funk, especially in the aroma, but the balance brought from the barrel is impressive. Lots of oak from being in the barrel so long. I had grown impatient with how long it was taking Troegs to release another Splinter beer, but they know what they are doing. Can't wait for the next one.

Meant to add that I don't think even the bar bottles will last through tonight. Seemed like everyone was ordering a bottle. I was there 2 hours this afternoon and the stock had gone down fast just in that short time. Anyone hear how many total were made for on-site and to-go? Better question: is more Gold sitting in those barrels in the barrel room? Is this going to become a semi-regular release going forward now they are firmly established in the new location?

There were 1400 bottles made, no real figure for the split but I would say close to 50/50.
As far as more Gold goes, I am sure there is more lurking in some dark corner of the brewery but so far these two batch's have taken 2 and 3 years respectively so I wouldn't expect anything for awhile.
As for more releases in general, there have been two Barrel Aged beers released in the last five months. Bourbon Troegenator was first and now Splinter Gold has come out again so I would say that you will definitely be seeing more events like this in the future.

Stopped in yesterday after Hershey Park, but didn't realize the store was sold out. I couldn't stay to drink (and then legally drive) so I had to turn down trying this, but the brewery is really cool and I can't wait to stay for a while next time.

Went back up with a friend last night and the coolers were still well stocked with Splinter Gold. I'd go sooner than later though if you want to drink one. Can't imagine they'll last terribly long.
