Split Rock Beer Fest - Poconos

Been many times in the past. Haven't been in 5-6 years. Has really gone down in my opinion. Nothing out of the norm being poured there and lots of bottles vs draft. Also has turned into a frat party with all young kids 21 crowd.

 

Quite possibly the worst event I've ever attended. Oversold, frat party atmosphere (conga line pushing couple and their wheelchair bound daughter out of the way, actual grilling done inside the event with the resulting unhealthy smoke, patrons throwing pumpkins at each other on way into event), beer selection ho-hum. A cash cow for those running the event, no charity involved when I went as so many fests now include.

 

Actual breweries don't show up, only local distributors so you won't be seeing any rarities. You're more than likely drinking their old beer they couldn't sell throughout the year.

Last year was very different from years past. I may go again this year with my brother simply on sentimental value. About 10 or 11 years ago since I started going until about 2010 were pretty awesome but then it went down hill after changing to an international beer fest and not just american craft beers. We even used to call this fest "festivus" because it was a lot of fun...hope this year marks a turning point back to the way it was!
