I posted this here because it appears the trading forum is strictly meant for FT-ISO posts. Is there any location on this site dedicated to helping PA members organize to split cases. I'm sure most are aware of PA's distribution and case laws so sharing cases helps relieve sticker shock on the more pricey selections. Also it allows us not to pay the single markup costs. I have been seeing Bolt Cutter for $30 a bottle. Case cost including tax one bottle retails for under $20.

There isn't one, but people obviously do it. You should keep it off the boards because of illegality (eg if you buy a case and exchange bottles for $, you've broken the law by reselling beer without a license, however if you pool the money first, buy cases and redistribute, it's legal...) and I think some threads about case shares have been nuked in the past.

I think your best bet would be to use this thread to have people BM you if they're interested and you could form a group, but keep it to private convos. There is a story of someone who did a huge case share and got busted by some bad luck.

I like the idea of case splitting as well. I'm semi-new to the world of craft beer, so buying a case isn't really what I want to do because I want to try as much new beer as I can. I'd rather have two 12 packs of different beer than a 24 pack of the same stuff (right now, until I find what I really enjoy).

I'm from Pittsburgh as well so however you guys plan on going about this, lemme know.

I recently found a case of BCBS in central PA and was refused the right to buy it, rather I was told I could be put on a list and when the list was full I would have the right to sit in the parking lot and divide the case up with 6 other guys. So, ya a bunch of work for 4pk of BCBS. I took a pass.
At any rate, I am up for any way splits of folks who want to do it offline. Would like to keep it local and not get shipping involved. I have a huge pile of beer to trade/split.

Funny that you mention BCBS jdaddy, because I was just going to post about it. It seems like this has been the "it" beer here forever, but I've never seen it. Does anyone know if Pittsburgh even carries this stuff? I would love to pick some of this up.

I am in eastern PA but have employees that work in the burgh. I was able to find and secure a few cases out there at distributorships that were way easier than out here in "beer meca" but BCBS takes work even out there. 4 pack wise some of the bottle shops and grocery stores seem to intermediately have it.

If anyone wants to split some BCBS and is anywhere near NE PA, please keep me in mind! I haven't seen anything local unfortunately....

That is remarkably illegal and definitely violates their license.

Would you happen to know the names of the bottles shops or grocery stores that have carried it? I go to beer places a few times a week and I've never seen it.

Ya, it sure is. I'm not going to throw this distributor under the bus, but I thought it was messed up and couldn't find myself driving an hour to the state capital to sit in a parking lot dividing up a case of beer six ways at their insistent demand of date and time.

I haven't seriously pursued it however I did pick up some bottles at Maria's 6 Pack and More in Reading. They do not currently have it to my knowledge.

I have had the same problems with some notable Distros in PA not selling me a case.
